Cystitis pain - help!

I had covid back in 2020, right at the beginning. Since then, despite never having had it before, I've suffered from recurrent cystitis infections.

It comes on really suddenly, and literally nothing apart from antibiotics clears it up, it just get progressively worse until I start taking the antibiotics.

I was referred for a kidney scan and a cystoscopy in 2021 which was all fine, and the frequency of the infections has actually slowed down and is now probably once every three months. But when it does happen, it's really painful and literally stops me doing anything.

It started again today, out of absolutely nowhere around 4.30pm. I'm in so much discomfort, blood on the loo roll and in the toilet almost instantly. I called the GP straight away, who said nothing they could do today and I could go to urgent treatment tonight, or call back at 8am tomorrow. Urgent treatment isn't an option as I'm at home on my own with the kids, and to be honest, even if someone could look after them, I'm not sure I'd sit it out for hours in a waiting room feeling like this.

So, does anyone have any genius tips to either make it go away or make me feel loads better until I get get a prescription tomorrow? I've got a hot water bottle and I'm drinking tons of water, I've taken painkillers. Any magic remedies that have worked for you??

There is nothing worse than the burning pain of cystitis. I really feel for you.
Cranberry juice and those sachets you get from the supermarket help a teeny bit.
I've heard lots of success for recurrent infections in tacking d mannose every day, apparently it seems to clear out the bacteria lurking that keep bringing the infection back. Good luck.

Pour warm water in the loo as you wee, this helps to ease the pain ever so slightly. I feel for you as I used to get it regularly but seems to have eased off as I've got older x

I've suffered in the past and found taking - D MANNOSE 500MG an absolute saviour. Check out reviews, you can order them on amazon.

Right now all you can do is try to flush out the infection with water and have a bath i'd say.

I sympathise as I suffer too, it's awful. Have you tried baking soda? This can help take acidity out of the urine and make it less painful. Paracetamol and a hot water bottle may help until you can get to the GP.

Going forwards, have a look at the info on this website about chronic. UTI's. www.chronicutiinfo.com/treatment/conventional-medicine/uk-treatment/prof-malone-lee/

I'm under treatment at the moment so have to take long term antibiotics. I'm feeling much better now but suffered for years.
