Interstitial cystitis? PID? Confused.

I was so certain I had a UTI, basically due to constantly needing to pee and dull pain in my lower back. Have been taking Macrobid and not noticed much change. Still have the ache. The peeing.

I have severe health anxiety so this morning I finally plucked up courage to do a dipstick (bear in mind I expect this to show IMMINENT DEATH, so it's a big deal for me) and it's... completely normal. Every single bit of the dipstick is neg. Blood, neg, protein, neg.

I have scar tissue/adhesions in my lower abdominal region, also the odd fibroid. I'm wondering now if that's what's been bothering me and making me want to pee 24/7.

Or maybe it's all in my brain?!

I drank a very spicy homemade chai the day this all started and I wonder if my bladder is just really angry at me for that.

I'm so confused and wondering if I can just come off the Macrobid now, because it's horrible stuff.

I'm not able to give specific advice as I'm not medically qualified; however, I do have interstitial cystitis and can confirm that it's prone to 'flare up' with certain food and drink, so the spicy chai may have had an effect.

Unfortunately, it's trial and error with IC and a lifetime of misery

If things don't settle down, it's best you seek medical advice. There are treatments for IC (not always effective) but it's likely you'll need to referred to Urology for tests/diagnosis for this.

In the meantime, drink plenty of water and use a hot water bottle for your low back ache.

Daughter has IC. She's improved by eating low oxalate diet and drinking raw organic milk, eating raw cheese daily which provides good nutrition and absorbs oxalic acid, which irritates bladder lining if susceptible Nevertheless she still gets flareups and she's just had a UTI so we're thinking of trying homeopathy or acupuncture. Urologists and NHS only provide symptomatic relief, not even dietary advice, so disappointing... plus the long wait for appointments.
