Stress incontinence and coughing

My pelvic floor has never been quite the same after DS(7) and I am guilty of not really doing exercises, however in the past 6-12 months I’ve really noticed how the leaks I get are getting more frequent and also that I leak for no reason.

Now I have a really scratchy cough and since yesterday I’m wetting myself every single time I cough, and then more in between for no particular reason.

Should I see the GP or make a concerted effort to try some exercises for a few months first? I’m getting mortified by how bad it’s become.

Unfortunately it's common, there was a thread only yesterday on it. I know that's not helping you sort it out but don't think you are alone you are not!

For security I have the maxi modibodi pants, but also exercises from the hospital physio department through gynae (they email led them during covid, have helped a bit)

I'm the same.

Vastly improved after weightloss but have had a cough for weeks and have reverted to wearing pads.

My youngest is 12 :(

You probably need a physio, and there will be a waiting list so may as well get referred now. But definitely do get on with the exercises, they’ll not have much other advice if you haven’t been doing them.

Other things you can do - make sure you’re not constipated, which will make things worse. Drink plenty of water. The Squeezy app is a good guide and reminder for the exercises.

A private women’s health physio would be another option, with minimal waiting. But expensive of course

I have just purchased a pelvic toner from Amazon, only used it twice but it’s amazing I can feel it making my muscles down there contract I am hoping it’s going to help with me.
