Confusing pelvic US results

Bit confused and GP is not back till after Christmas now so I was just wondering if anyone had experienced similar. I had a pelvic ultrasound a week or so ago due to persistent hip & leg pain, heavy periods & clotting, amongst other things. They ended up doing an internal scan 'to get a better view' and though I didn't get much feedback, the sonographer said that she could see some uterine changes & to discuss with my doctor. She said she didn't think it was anything to be overly concerned about & there was no sign of fibroids.

So I called the surgery today, receptionist advised results were in and had been reviewed by the GP and all was normal. I explained what they had said at the scan & they have put a note on my file for GP to call on his return next week. I just don't find it particularly reassuring that there was clearly something worthy of comment during the scan but this hasn't been followed up or transferred to my GP notes! I did wonder about something like endometriosis but am I right in thinking this wouldn't usually be detected on US? And I would still expect it to be noted. Obviously I will follow up next week but is anyone more clued up on what they could mean by 'uterine changes'?

I'm glad your results were normal. I had an internal US for post meno bleeding and the sonographer could see evidence of endo - asked me if I'd ever been investigated for it. I hadn't but had had painful periods so it makes sense.

By the way, my GP never mentioned it to me.

Some adenomyosis changes can be seen on ultrasound e.g. bulky uterus, focal adenomyosis.

Other possibilities:
Small polyps
Slightly thickened endometrium, depending on which part of cycle (but not thick enough to meet the criteria for further investigation)

Thanks for your feedback - it sounds like it could be something of nothing then & i will wait to hear back from the dr & not worry too much. Sorry it took me so long to acknowledge replies btw - Christmas got in the way!

Hope you are able to get some help for your symptoms.

Hi op with your symptoms you really need to ask for a laproscopy. I had symptoms very similar to yours and had 3 ultrasounds in 6 months. All were' normal' . I went in to have a hysterectomy( cancer risk) and i was found to have stage 4 endo. I have 360 degree adhesions( meaning everything in my pelvis is attached to something) deep adhesions in my bowel and bladder andso many cysts on my left ovary its no longer visable. Its so bad its now inoperable.

Im not saying this to scaremonger. US is utterly useless to detect endo. Im 50 and have suffered with this my whole life. I pushed and pushed for years for answers for years and all I was ever offered was the coil. Now its too late. Tell your GP you are aware you have symptoms that point to endo and that only a laproscopy will show this. Dont let them fob you off. Good luck.
