hello everyone - a week before my period i get really bad pms symtoms. From mood swings to memory to my sleep i feel like a different person to what i am the other weeks of the month . I've always had these symptoms but i am definitely noticing them more now. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has tried anything to help ? Ive been suggested yoga before and to put it blunt that did not help. Has anyone tried any supplements like 5htp as this is said to help pms? (5htp pms evidence) or b6 (article about it from H+B). Or anything more left field ? I'm fed up of the exercise suggestions but anything else is welcome especially if it has helped you !!

I’m post menopausal but did suffer similarly
For me a physical activity helped like power walking or anything that gets you really sweaty
Try taking your aggression out on something x

Hi there I have the same really bad pms I am 34 and feel it’s getting worse. Feel like I am going crazy at times. It’s got to the point we’re it’s affecting my relationship with my partner.
I get really angry and if somthing happens I really can get so dramatic about it and can’t control it. I went to the doctors two years ago and was put on anti depressants which eased them a little but didn’t want to be on them. So I came off them after a year and finding my pms is getting worse and would also like to no if there is any supplements anyone can recommend.
x

Hi, I take the pill that stops my periods and honestly it is a life changer my pmt was awful, I would get anxiety, sit in the garden in the dark crying and smoking (i dont smoke), feel like quitting my job, for 2 weeks out the month it was bad. Please if possible go on a pill to stop periods

I have the mirena coil so I don’t even have periods 😩😩😩.
I was on the pill about 10years ago and caused me to have really bad depression and anxiety.

I used to find that Pyridoxine (Vit B6) helped with my PMS.

To work out how much I needed, about 10 days before I was due on I would start taking it at the dosage recommended on the bottle. Every day I would increase the dosage by 1 tablet, until I could smell it in when I went to the toilet. That told me I was taking enough and my body was excreting what I did not need. I would stay on that dosage until a couple of days after my period started.

no idea, for some reason my PMS got better as I got older & matured more, though.

Dim supplements balance your hormones out. I take them for my hormonal acne but have found pms improved as well

Having babies helped me! But it returned with a vengeance in peri-menopause. B6 did not help much then. Thank goodness for HRT.

@HeBeaverandSheBeaver sorry just seen this. Not sure off the top of my head but it is the mini pill the dr will know what to put you on, stopping periods has helped so much so tell your dr you want to stop ovulation and periods to stop pmt

Angela59 · 22/01/2023 06:41

Pegging my subbie has helped me before 😂

Hiya

I'm peri now, so stopping periods and not going through it anymore.

But one thing I did years ago helped so much.

Basically I read that the pill gives a flat line of hormones and women don't get the chance to go emotionally up and down, as we are meant to.

So I came off the pill and went natural, for 22 years so far. Ovulation was GREAT. Felt amazing and hot and no worries.

Then the downswing would arrive and I'd become more emotionally vulnerable, more in touch, more insular. I had read that this is good and how women are meant to work. That we are in touch with what is NOT working in our lives, and that's why we get the insular downswing. If we don't listen, it knocks more consistently.

It took me about five years of working with the intuition from my cycle to really sort my life out. The anger, the big deals that I couldn't resolve immediately. But I was humble about it and let in whatever was knocking to be thought about.

After that, the emotional content of my cycle was fairly benign. But I learned to follow it and not try to direct it.

So that is my advice. It may mean upheaval. But that upheaval could make you happier.
