Anyone else on levothyroxine?

Hi there. I'm currently being trialed on 100mg Levothyroxine for a recently found underactive thyroid. I've got a blood test in a couple of weeks to see if it's the right dosage. I'm still feeling cold and incredibly tired and absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. I can see my partner getting a little frustrated with this (we do have a 5 mo th old so can be tiring). Does sex drive come back on Levothyroxine with the right dosage? I hate feeling like this, thank you 😊

A 5 month old killed my sex drive more than my underactive thyroid ever did :-D Are you breastfeeding? That can impact things as well.

Your partner needs to back off
you have a 5 month old and a new chronic illness - it makes you exhausted and you’ve only been on meds a short time.

it takes a good 6 weeks plus for levels to settle down I never get a blood test prior to that after a change in meds. I’ve been on levo my whole life so used to it. It’s not a nice thing to have, I have no thyroid and am used to being tired and cold etc even on treatment. Hopefully yours works for you but do rest, and look after yourself it’s easy to get very tired and takes a while for your body to recoup that loss I’m currently needing a really good few days ‘off’ to rest but don’t have time.

Haha, I guess having a child doesn't help. I definitely had more of a sex drive though before I started these tablets 2 weeks ago. And no, he's always been formula fed x

It does take a while to start working, but once it does, symptoms will improve.

Are you taking it on a completely empty stomach in the morning, well before any food/hot drinks?

Also don’t take it with a multivitamin with iron, the iron affects the absorption.

the British thyroid foundation recommends 2 hours between them.

I am on iron tablets, but I take them 2 hours after my levothyroxine:-)

Thank you :) I take my levothyroxine at 7am and my iron tablet at 9am. I then eat my first foods of the day around 10am. Thank you for the advice:)

My (male) partner has been on it for years - he's now on 175mg dose.

Says he can't remember how long it took to feel different - BUT when he forgot and left them behind for our two week Italian holiday he said he really felt the absence by the end. So they do "work" although it may be gradual.

He doesn't seem to feel the cold much but does get tired easily - he also has Crohns disease though so that might account for some of it.
