I’m wondering if this wound is infected we are day 9 post emergency c section, it is painful still which I assume is normal however there is a small area that is open and has a slight yellow discharge

Yes the discharge coming out of that doesn't look great. Does it smell? I'd get a GP to swab/prescribe antibiotics.

HairyKnobsAndBroomsticks · 06/10/2022 11:58

You poor thing, yes that needs looking at.

Opie9 · 06/10/2022 12:02

Yes, when mine looked like that I was prescribed antibiotics. I was also told to clean it twice a day with saline solution and let it air dry.

wingingit33 · 06/10/2022 12:03

Afraid so

Northernlurker · 06/10/2022 12:06

Pain can be an indicator of infection too. Get some antibiotics and you'll be right as rain. You do need to get them today though so persist with your gp or midwife.

Whoopsmahoot · 06/10/2022 12:38

Definitely get that checked

buttons123456 · 06/10/2022 12:40

Yes ! It's open when it shouldn't be !

BlueBunny23 · 06/10/2022 14:24

Yes it’s smelly, drs is closed today for training. Is it urgent enough to call the maternity assessment unit ober?

OP posts:
wingingit33 · 06/10/2022 15:06

Op call your midwife! Or the postnatal ward. Hope you feel better soon.

Opie9 · 06/10/2022 15:08

If you call 111 they should be able to refer you to an open GP so you can be seen today

Hawkins001 · 06/10/2022 15:28

Me personally, from my own injuries, id say that's just healing normally.

Hawkins001 · 06/10/2022 15:28

As id consider the discharge the stuff that leaks out and then scabs over the wound, so it can heal.

AriettyHomily · 06/10/2022 15:29

Mine was like that and not infected. Try and wash it in saline and put a sanitary pad (non sticky side!) on it to protect. Non scented too. It's just a little open.

Llamadog · 06/10/2022 15:30

Not the kind of thing you should be embarrassed to query with GP/maternity services. Better to get it checked and it be nothing than to leave it and end up poorly.

puddleduckle · 06/10/2022 15:41

Yes OP that needs looking at pronto, it’ll only get worse if left. Mine never opened at all or weekend, hope you get sorted x

puddleduckle · 06/10/2022 15:42

*or weeped!

BigSidLittleSid · 06/10/2022 16:18

Don't cover it with a sanitary pad, it needs to breathe.

111 if your GP is closed. Contact the postnatal ward, but where I am a Dr has to refer you back in to hospital anyway, you can't refer yourself
