2 week referral panic

I need you to calm me and give my head a wobble.

I've had low left abdominal pain for some time, given antibiotics a few times for water infection although sample clear. I have now found a lump there, doc could feel it too and whilst she was examining me she found an abnormal 'blip' on my cervix. She didn't think the two things were related.

I've been referred under the two week thing. I'm absolutely freaked out. I'm now connecting my back pain and hip pain to this although I've had an MRI and the back pain is something to do with cartilage. The hip pain is new.

I've convinced myself I have cancer and wont be here to care for my little girl. Her additional needs are dealt with by me. If I'm ill or dead then what happens? Don't think DH would cope.

Was referred Friday so hopefully I will hear soon. I've never felt so panicked or low. Trying so hard to be brave but failing.

I suddenly feel the need to do the Christmas shopping and write lists of everything.

And breeeeeathe.

I've just had a two week referral and all was completely fine. It's hard but keep yourself busy and every time you think 'what if' distract yourself and do something else. It's hard but it's the only way to get through it .

It's understandable, but you're getting ahead of yourself. 2 week referrals aren't because the GP thinks you have cancer, it's because your symptoms could indicate a number of different conditions, one of which being cancer. It doesn't mean there's a high chance that it is.

I've had three 2-week referrals over the years. Two of them for lumps that turned out to be harmless cysts, and one of them which resulted in me being diagnosed with a chronic but treatable condition (and definitely not cancer).

Distract yourself as best you can until your appointment.
