Combined pill after 35

Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with the combined pill after the age of 35. I used the mini pill previously but it affected my mood so badly I had to stop. I spoke to a doctor with Boots online service and he offered to prescribe combined pill. I'm a bit surprised because I am under the impression that it may not be safe for women over 35, even though I don't have any of the risk factors such as smoking. Anyone experience with this?

You can, in theory, take the combined pill up to the age of 50 as long as there are no contraindications. Smoking, migraine, high BP, BMI of 35 or over, history of thrombosis, significant family history etc.

Up to 40 is usually fine, from a prescribe ming POV providing no smoking or obesity. Some people take it up to menopause if it works best for them, it's all about balancing risks and benefits.

I'm 44 and take Eloine which is a low dose combined pill. I love it.
