Period by choice?

So, I've been taking the pill non stop for about 15 years. This means no bleeding at all. I started doing this on the advice of my GP because I would get migraines just before and after my period so this method has solved that.

I have wondered from time to time if this is a safe thing to be doing? And for so long?

Will I know when menopause happens? I'm 42

If it's harmless why doesn't everyone woman who has periods take the pill to stop them? I've spent most of my adult life on the pill and hate the thought of ever having another unnecessary period.

I hear of women struggling with pain and heavy bleeding. Would the pill not help them?

It feels like there is a method out there to stop women suffering, maybe it doesn't work for all?

I do feel a bit of a fraud at times when friends mention their period problems, I can relate obviously but don't understand why you would put yourself through the whole ordeal PMT etc when there is a choice. I certainly don't feel left out but I have taken the easy route and don't know why others don't. Maybe lots of women do but none I've met, they are shocked when I say I haven't had a period for about 15 years, I've saved a fortune in sanitary wear to.

As far as I'm aware there has never been an actual, medical reason why we need to have a withdrawal bleed on the pill, except that (male) doctors decided we should! The pill has other side effects for me so that's why I no longer take it, was on cerazette for 10 years with no periods at all though, it was blissful Sad
