Lower back pain & epidural

For context I had PGP in pregnancy towards the end it got quite severe (sharp shooting pains, unable to bend and walk etc). Before childbirth I'd get a very mild ache in my lower back before and during my period but nothing painful at all.

I gave birth 11 weeks ago and for the first 6 weeks or so my entire back and down my legs was aching, like if I bent over it would be painful to straighten up. That mostly subsided. During my first period pp I noticed mild lower back pain, nothing painful but definitely more "pain" than before.

I'm now on my second period pp and OMG. The pain is debilitating, I'm 3 days into my period so I don't know if there is any correlation. I've literally spent half the day laying on the floor. I can't straighten my back at all and I can't even lift my baby. It's like a sharp shooting pain every time I move in my lower back I think where my tailbone is, I can't tell because the pain covers a whole area around it. It's like a thick belt across my lower back which feels achy, sore and painful.

Is this normal postpartum back pain or is this the type of pain people talk about getting after having an epidural? My labour was quite long and tedious (almost 24 hrs) and in the end I also got a spinal block and had a forceps delivery. Am I doomed with back pain for the rest of my life? 😭😭😭 anyone else had the same back pain???

PS my baby is a little chub, and I do think holding him and rocking him to sleep (1 hr sometimes 😵‍💫) has definitely contributed to this pain. My back aches slightly by the end of the day so maybe it's just my bodies way of reacting to the build up of that?

No, not normal.
I had an epidural and did't get any back pain.

More than the epidural, I would think that the long and tedious labour exacerbated whatever was causing your back pain.

Go and see your Gp. Your baby will only get heavier and if your back pain is interfering with your daily activities and interactions with your child.
