Desogestrel and ongoing bleeding

I gave birth to my DD 9 months ago. I had some post birth complications (retained chunk of placenta found at 9 weeks post birth) which left me bleeding heavily for 12 weeks in total.
I have had very low Ferritin and B12 since and have been receiving treatment.

Once the placenta had come away, the bleeding stopped for a couple of weeks and then I had what I assumed to be my first period since the birth. Downside is that I would bleed for a week, stop for 2 weeks then bleed again. This has been continious.
GP ordered bloods which showed low Ferritin and B12 again but hormones seemed normal and sent me for a scan which has shown a calcified scar in my uterus and a cystic ovary.
Lots of scans perviously and no history of PCOS.
GP didnt comment on the scan at all but put me on Desogestrel as it would help with the cysts?!?!

Ive been on Desogestrel just over a month. Bled for a whole week which only stopped 4 days ago and have started spotting again.
Previously been on this pill before and never bled on it at all.
My skin is also horrendous, almost like cystic acne.

Should I be worried?
Is this normal after having a baby?
GP doesnt want to hear from me until ive been on the pill for 3 months but im worried as I have ovary pain alot and spotting.

I can't advise on the postpartum or cyst stuff but it took me about 6 weeks of almost constant period before it stopped while on that pill. It was light and manageable (my periods were v heavy before)

Make sure you set an alarm and take it same time every single day. I think I've been taking it about 18 months and even now taking it too late (hours late) can still cause cramping. Forgetting til next day will almost guarantee a period within a few days.

If you feel uneasy about what your gp has said, ask to speak to another Dr.

Sorry cannot advise on the cyst but I’ve been on the mini pill (cerelle) since 21 July started it the first day of my period after having DS who is now 3 months old .
Ive took it everyday at the same and I’ve bled/ spotted everyday and now I am on what I assume is my AF. I’ve also got low iron , b12 all this bleeding is not helping ! I’ve an appointment with the GP to discuss! It’s the worst pill I’ve ever been on for bleeding issues.

I would call yours back too and raise concerns over the cyst even if it just reassures you . I’m looking to switch pill now had enough xx

I take desogestrel as a contraceptive and for the first 3 months I had ongoing light bleeding. I would say 3 weeks out of every 4. It has settled now I've been on it longer. I do find if I don't take it at exactly the same time every day, it can prompt some bleeding.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Seems like I am not alone then with these issues.
I have another 2 months worth to take so part of me is tempted to perservere and see if it settles. I never had this issue when I was on this pill before and didnt know if it could be linked to having a baby and hormones? Im not breastfeeding now.

I have been told my only other option is the xoil due to my age (over 35).
Can anyone shed any experience?

I would persevere if you can.

I had lots of bleeding at first, which gradually lessened and now I don't get periods at all. It's great, but your body needs time to get used to it's new hormone balance, which are all-over the place after a baby anyway.

I also had an ectropian, which used to frequently bleed after sex. Not anymore, and at my last smear they said it was now tiny, and wouldn't have known it was there if I hadn't warned them (It usually bleeds uring smears, but not this time).
