Exhausted from bloating, pain and feeling crap

I need to vent as I'm not sure what to do.

Previously diagnosed with Endometriosis 9 years ago before I had kids.

Symptoms seemed much better following 2 kids. Now my youngest is 4, things seem back to square one.

Periods are irregular, heavy, super painful. I have lower back pain and pelvic pain. I'm so bloated I look about 4 months pregnant.

My moods are so low because of how crap I'm feeling and I'm not pleasant to be around. My husband is utterly fed up with me. I'm 37 and am also convinced I'm peri menopausal.

Had bloods done last week and it's showed up I'm borderline anaemic so need retesting in 1 month and I have an internal scan booked for 2 weeks time. Once that's done the GP said they will consider a laparoscopy to look inside.

If anyone else has experienced this, what has helped you?

I feel like I may have to call the GP back as my period finished about 3 days ago and im still feeling in so much discomfort.

has the gp done the blood test for ovarian cancer marker?
given a referral to gyn?

Did you have a laparoscopy for diagnosis? I have endo too and also on my period and bloody fed up with life!

I've had two laparoscopies, first was emergency done by A&E for a burst ovarian cyst, second was planned done by gynae for endometriosis ablation. The second made a world of difference - I now "only" have horrible periods, whereas the rest of the time is fine (I was in daily pain before). That was about 6 years ago.

I am also on the pill and take packs back to back for as long as possible until my body decides it needs a bleed, which is recommended.

What treatment have you been offered/given for your endo?

Is that the CA125? If so, yes that was one of the blood tests done and that one came back fine.

GP said they want to do all the quick wins first (blood tests, internal scan) before thinking about referring to gynaecologist

Oh flipper it's so miserable isn't it.

Yes my initial diagnosis years ago was having a laparoscopy. I had to go private as my previous GP was awful and kept saying it's just 'women's problems' (heavy eye roll).

I managed to see a doc again yesterday who gave me a once over (not internal) as I was in so much discomfort but she said I just have to take ibuprofen and wait for my internal scan.

I just can't get over how rubbish this is making me feel.

My hips and lower back are so achy, I'm so tender and feeling crap.

2 weeks feels like an age away, I almost want to skip straight to laparoscopy but I know that won't happen.

Just as an update, I had my scan it was quite uncomfortable during it and didn't help that I was on my period.

Had a text this evening from GP to say that it's normal and to book an appointment if I have "ongoing symptoms".

I feel like banging my head against a brick wall.

I'm constantly having ongoing bloody symptoms and having to repeat the same informaron over again to different GPs is so frustrating.

This is appalling, you’ve been previously diagnosed with endometriosis and this does not go away of its own accord.

Do keep a daily pain and symptom diary to show them particularly if you do not already do this. I would also print off NICEs guidelines re endometriosis to show them.

Such scans do not readily detect endometriosis if it is present. l have had more internal scans than I care to mention and none of them detected the endo present in my uterine cavity. Would book an appointment for asap and insist to the GP that you are now referred to a gynaecologist. Stress it’s affecting your daily quality of life.

I would also consider going private for an initial consultation if finances allow it. It will be money well spent. I suggest this also as current waiting lists for gynaecology on the NHS are miles long.

Endometriosis UKs website is well worth a read too.

Thank you for replying. I feel drained by it all.

I'm going to call the GP surgery tomorrow and try and get a call back and ask to be referred.

From reading through the women's health boards it seems there are so many of us suffering who are just being fobbed off.
