CIN3

Hi, I was looking for some advice and experiences on this if possible.

After an abnormal smear test, followed by a colposcopy and biopsy I have found out that I have CIN3. I will be going for treatment within the next 2 weeks to get LLETZ to laser off the cells.

Just wondering if anyone has had this before? I am so worried and am constantly asking myself

  1. Could this be cervical cancer? I know CIN3 isn't cancer but could they find something further after the LLETZ?
  2. Will this affect my fertility, im only 25 and really want children so this is terrifying me.

Thanks in advance for any replies

That sounds like good news. Good they are keeping an eye on it.

Sounds like good news!

I had CIN3 at 25 and had LLETZ and the consultant advised me if I wanted to have kids to have them sooner rather than later preferably before 30 as if LLETZ can sometimes affect your fertility and multiple ones will affect it. So I went on to make sure I had tried to conceive before I was 30 x

Oh and I went on to have normal smears after that on a recall to have smear
Once a year !

Thanks everyone!

@yellowroses7 so glad it all worked out for you. They told me that one LLETZ should not affect fertility, but if I was to go on to have more then it could affect it because of the cervix getting smaller with each LLETZ! I'm 25 now so should probably start thinking about it x

I had this procedure at 28 and smears every year for ten years. But, although I’d had a son prior to the treatment and all was fine, it was disastrous for my future children. However, I would still have had the treatment, as it was necessary if I wanted to prevent possible cervical cancer. I’ve since had also had the HPV jab. I know it doesn’t get rid of hpv infections, but it has been shown in a study to wake your immune system up, so I thought why not.
whilst it didn’t effect me fertility, it did cause me to go into early labour, with my son at 21 weeks, who died not long after birth.
I then got pregnant with my daughter nine years later, and she was born prematurely at 23 weeks, she lived for one week and also passed away. My cervix was weakened but I wasn’t offered a stitch. By the time my daughter had been born, I was 40 and I didn’t get pregnant again, which by this point, the consultant ( the same for both babies) said I would have a stitch with the next one.
I had an amniocentesis with my son and initially this was blamed for the early labour, which was about 4 weeks after the test. It was only after my daughter was born that my cervix was thought to be the problem.

@Mintine that is awful, I am so sorry for your losses Flowers I know you said you would have had the treatment regardless, but just wondering if they warned you about the possibility of premature births prior to the treatment? I can't imagine how difficult that must have been to go through it not only once, but twice. Also I had the HPV vaccine while I was at school, it was newly introduced back then so managed to have it at around 14 x

thank you, there isn’t a day goes by that I don’t think about our two babies, I don’t recall them mentioning this, but they probably did, surely

I had CIN3 on my very first smear I ever had. I went for colposcopy and had lletz done, it was in 2008. I then went onto to have 2 children without any issues. All my smears have been fine since then until now where I’m told I have positive for HPV but with no abnormalities found so they’ll do another one in a year but usually clears up on its own.
I was quite uncomfortable after the procedure and stupidly went back to work, I soon went home and was in bed with paracetamol for 24 hours and some light cramps/bleeding but after that all fine. X
