Prolapses - spotting when doing a poo

Beggingforsleep · 18/08/2022 23:20

I have a rectocele and cystocele (sp?) post two pregnancies and one very large baby.

I’m starting to think I might have a cervix/womb prolapse too. It’s very low generally and now a week before my period starting, I spot when doing a number 2. Having a poo is pretty difficult anyway with the prolapse so I’m straining but it’s quite disconcerting!

Does anyone else have this? Is it just a weaker cervix post babies or maybe another prolapse to add to my list?

My youngest is 3 so there’s no further ‘bouncing back’ to happen. Dreading what will happen down there after the menopause.

Can I ask how old you are? I’m only 27 and feel like I’ve got the same thing. My cervix is only about 4cm in. I suffer badly with tummy strain and bloating which is also a sign. Do you feel looser ? Have you seen anyone? I’m on the list to see a gynocolagist I really want surgery but don’t know if they will let me. I’m uk so under nhs

Ah sorry to hear you might have one too. I’m 40 so quite a bit older. I did see the doctor after my first and they sent me to a specialist physio but basically the advice was just to do kegels. Then after my second I got sent to a gynea who didn’t even assess me, just waved some pessaries at me which looked so daunting I didn’t want to explore using.

I’m not in London anymore though and finding our new GP much more helpful so imagine if/when I raise it with them they will be more willing to help.

I’ve learnt to live with it most of the time. It’s just this spotting now that bothers me the most. Less sensation during sex but we do other things/change positions to help.

All pretty shit though!

I have been told that they won’t take it seriously until you’re done having children. Are you done?

Following as also experiencing this- GP wouldn't take too seriously as I only have one child and they feel I may want more ( I don't) so pretty crap support offered at the moment

It’s hard isn’t it. I think it’s just luck in getting a good doctor. One (female) gp asked me why it was a problem as my husband shouldn’t feel a difference. Wish I’d complained at the time.

My SIL is a gynea but we’re not close so I haven’t spoken to her about it. Maybe I just need to drink a big glass of wine and speak to her.

If no luck with NHS physio and funds permit I would seriously look at going private for one specialising in women's health but try new GP first. Avoid straining if at all possible, eat a high fibre diet and if possible raise feet when passing stools (google squatty potty). Try and avoid too much high impact exercise too.

I'm exactly the same as you op. My cervix is also so low I can feel the wires from my coil when I wipe. At the moment I'm just putting up with it as I'm not sure how aggressive I want to be in trying to tackle the issue!

Is it coming out? Mine isn’t that low yet but terrified of it getting worse. When I feel in it’s just above my first knuckle. I think I have other prolapses too thou. I’m still so young should be in my prime not worrying about all this it’s so hard. Would be nice to hear some success stories about getting better/surgery

I can only offer you some tips on what to and not to do:

Drink Prune juice to help with bowel movements and or take Fybogel.
Do not lift anything heavy (was told for life).
StreesNoMore website has ideas on prolapse supports

I was told there is a 17 month NHS waiting list for physio help in my area.
