Typical pcos or menopause?

I was on the mini pill for a year and came off it 3 weeks ago to ttc. I haven’t had any bleed or period at all yet. I do have pcos so I’m presuming my hormones are unsettled, but I’m a bit concerned it could actually be peri menopause. Sorry for tmi but I’ve had vaginal dryness since the day after my last pill, which is now really sore and itchy, had yellow nipple discharge for 2 days and 3 weeks of diarrhoea.
I phoned for a gp appointment but they said blood tests are a 2 month wait currently so in the meantime can anyone shed some light based on their symptoms or any advice please? Google suggests estrogen is low or high prolactin, but I can’t act on anything without a blood test confirmation. I’m really concerned if it is menopause rather than unstable hormone levels then I’ll never have a baby and if it’s not then I’m worried about how much of a delay there will be to ttc once I’m on hormone treatment if needed. My periods were every 5 weeks before starting the pill.
definitely not pregnant or an std.

How old are you?

Rosepetalstypo · 11/08/2022 21:07

Sorry forgot to add, I’m 35, my mum and gran were peri menopausal from late 30s which is why I considered it being menopause related

I appreciate you are worried especially as there is a family history of early menopause.
However, you have only been off the Pill for a very short time and you have POCS.

I think it's ridiculous you have to wait 2 months for a blood test. How can they justify that! Can you make an appt to see a GP and discuss all your symptoms?

Your other option is to go privately. You would be able to see a gynaecologist (usually) with 1-2 weeks at your local private hospital and most take self referrals. The fees are on the websites and it's usually around £250. Any blood tests would be more but you can ask about prices at the appt.

You can make the appt by phoning.

You could also consider going to a fertility clinic for the very first step of a blood test- the AMH test- for ovarian reserve. There are lots of these clinics around.

There is no point taking herbs etc now. Most of them don't work and in any case you need information about your fertility if you are TTC. These herbs are for women in peri meno and won't do anything for your fertility.
