THRUSH IS KILLING ME! HELP!

Childbirth was nothing compared to this, I'm at a complete loss.
Possibly tmi but;
I started getting itchy and uncomfortable on Saturday morning, by the evening I began to swell around my vagina, the itching had intensified and I was getting very sore.
On Sunday morning I began using 2% canesten cream and a possery, I got no relief at all from those 😩
By Sunday afternoon I could barely walk and couldn't close my legs, everything is swollen, even around my pee hole (I'm not sure of the correct name for the entrance to the urethra 😳).
On Monday morning I took a fluconazole oral pill as well as ibuprofen&codine for the pain, still no relief.
Peeing is excruciating, it burns like the fires from hell. I think in the last 4 days I've only pee'd around 150ml of urine at the most, I don't know if it's due to the swelling but I can only release tiny drops at a time and even that causes me to cry/hyperventilate from the pain, I've had to either pee in the shower or continuously pour water over myself as I do it to try to minimise the agony (not that it works).
I've tried wearing a pad covered in live yogurt which does give some relief very briefly while it's nice and cold but that doesn't last long at all.
Earlier today it seemed like there's white discharge coming from my urethra as well as my vagina, the whole thing is just excruciatingly painful!
Since Sunday I've been pretty much incapacitated, any movement causes an intense burning, which really isn't great with an autistic toddler to look after.
For the last 2 days I've tried to get an appointment with my GP but it's just impossible, there are no regular appointments left for the whole week and even when I call first thing in the morning I'm on hold for ages then told there are no emergency appointments left and to try again tomorrow 🤦‍♀️
I'm at a real loss, what else can I do to make this go away??

I was referred to a
Gynaecologist- it was him who said try the gynodaktarin- worked without fail.

MindfulBear · 03/08/2022 00:36

111 or A&E (I've been to A&E for less when it involved my vagina!)
Such excruciating pain is not something to put up with.

Please. 111 or A&E.

loubieloo4 · 03/08/2022 00:39

I would be quite concerned about urine retention also. You need to go to A&E if you have only passed 150ml after drinking so much.

AuntTwacky · 03/08/2022 01:14

Can you see a private GP? Sounds awful OP

Letsbefriends · 03/08/2022 01:26

Personally I would head to A&E - sounds unbearable. If you don’t go then insist on a GP appointment tomorrow, even if there are no appointments left, they should fit you in.

any sign of a cyst?

pintofginplz · 03/08/2022 01:38

Have you tried pouring warm water down there while you are peeing? Helped me after I had given birth and full of stitches. I also used to put witch Hazel on a pad for some relief, you could try that but be careful just in case as I'm going off what I used after birth not thrush.

Annonnn · 03/08/2022 05:14

Quick update, no improvement after a few hours sleep so I don't think the second fluconazole is having any effect.

I managed to pee again with bearable pain by completely covering the whole area in vagisil lidocaine cream which is a huge relief and a big worry off my mind! Pouring water while I pee'd never helped at all but this cream has been a real lifesaver. Sadly it is a scented cream so is probably bad for the underlying condition though.
My GP opens in a few hours so I will be calling and insisting on an appointment today.

Good luck with the GP, I suffered recurrent thrush as a child and the pain is unbearable! Sorry to ask but did you check your urine? Any signs of blood, dark colour etc? Not passing properly for a few days could lead to a secondary urine infection.

Annonnn · 03/08/2022 05:38

No sign of blood in the urine but it was reasonably dark a few hours ago, I assume that was because it had been in me for longer than it should have but if I can get ahold of a GP I'll ask if they can check for a UTI... Knowing my luck there will be one, they'll prescribe antibiotics and I'll get another bout of thrush from taking them 😂

Biscuitandacuppa · 03/08/2022 05:41

Yes that is the downside! 😂

Annonnn · 03/08/2022 08:05

Update; finally managed to make an emergency GP appointment so I should get a call from them sometime today

Oh I have my fingers crossed for you OP. Thrush like that is unbearable! I would be really pushing for them to do some swabs/take a urine sample/preferably both, even if they want to try you on a second line anti-fungal at the same time - the results will take time to be processed and you don't want to go round the loop again if it doesn't work.

Annonnn · 03/08/2022 19:07

Update;

I had a phone call appointment with a GP today, she said to come in and get checked /urine sample etc.
I waited there for an hour and 10 minutes after my appointment time but eventually had to just leave to pick up my son so no joy there. 🙃

God what a nightmare. Run a bath of warm water and pee in there when you need to go… much less painful. ( and it’s so diluted it’s no issue sitting in it ). I was getting thrush every month after my period…. I was on medication all the time. In the end I linked it to my mooncup which I loved but just couldn’t get in with. As soon as I stopped using it the thrush dissipated. Is there an “ Out of hours” GP service run in your area? The details of ours are on our GPS website and answer machine message.

Dodie66 · 03/08/2022 21:18

Can you drop a urine sample off at your docs for testing?

stillvicarinatutu · 03/08/2022 21:20

I'd do a sample but also ask them to prescribe daktarin cream

Annonnn · 05/08/2022 13:56

Update 2;

GP called me yesterday morning, apparently reception hadn't told her I had shown up for my appointment whereas when I asked at reception why I was waiting so long they had said the GP was running very far behind 🙄

GP was finishing at 12 yesterday but had said I could call this morning for an appointment with her, well I called... She's not back at work until Monday so I can't get an in person appointment until late Monday afternoon 🙃

Anyway, it is still sore but just about bearable now and the swelling has gone down so I'm hopefully it will be cleared up by Monday anyway :)

I’ve got a horrible dose of thrush at the moment OP due to antibiotics so I feel your pain. 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a lukewarm bath really gives me some relief and gets rid of some of the yeast. Start taking a good women’s probiotic. Garden of life is a good one.

Agree with others that it sounds like you may have a UTI as well. Get yourself some D-mannose or cranberry tablets until you have your appointment, even if it’s not a UTI it won’t do you any harm.

mama93345 · 06/08/2022 20:04

Get your GP to check for diabetes. There's a link and it sounds like you've got a real severe dose of thrush

kittykat818 · 08/08/2022 15:09

@Smoothsoul What were the bv meds, I get thrush every month the week before my period!

loopylindi · 08/08/2022 15:45

Here we go again! So many women present with itching, soreness, pain on urination and put it down to Thrush. So often it is but when you've tried all the creams, pessaries and so on and the insatiable urge to scratch is still there, check out Lichen Sclerosus as the culprit. I hope to God it isn't, but do check it out on line. I started with this believing it was thrush. I was prescribed so many Diflucan capsules I became allergic. After over 40yrs I was finally diagnosed and I so wish it had been earlier. I would suggest as a temporary measure sitting in a washing up bowl with hot water and bicarb for upwards of 5minutes. It sounds counter intuitive using hot water, but it does make any creams that you then apply be absorbed more effectively. Do rub the cream in well, don't just apply it. You should feel a gentle burn-y feeling. Good luck

loopylindi · 08/08/2022 15:46

Posted too soon. Also try to pee when sitting in hot water. It really works

Annonnn · 08/08/2022 17:10

Update 3;

Soreness and swelling is now gone, still a bit itchy but it seems to be sorting itself out finally! If the soreness or swelling comes back I'll make a GP appointment again, fingers crossed it'll be completely gone in a day or two.
