Breast ache

This week one of my breasts has felt achey, constantly. When I push on it, the ache becomes a pain, above and to the outer side.

i have read on the nhs site that breast aches are not something to worry about but of course I am worrying. But that has put me off ringing for a gp appointment.

i stopped bf 2.5 years ago and this feels like when they were getting full and needed a feed or
to be expressed.

anyone any similar experiences?

I have something very similar to this. It's been there nearly 3 years. It's the breast that my son refused to feed from since 4 months old. It aches a lot and there is pain like underneath the breast tissue, if my son leans on it or anything like that it makes me cry out! I booked an appointment and saw a nurse as there were not GPs available and she had a good look and feel and said she had no concerns - and asked me if I'd gained weight. Not sure why that was relevant. Anyway, it plays on my mind a lot still. I might get a private screening at some point.

@maplee yes the same here if my son leans on me (toddlers like to!) it’s so painful!
im slightly reassured that your nurse wasn’t concerned. It’s just so shit there is much of being a woman that we have to just put up with without any reason
thank you for replying

I had a leaflet from the breast clinic recently and the main thing they emphasised was to get anything that was not normal for you checked out. This included lumps, dimpling, puckering, discharge, constant pain etc.

If the ache is not normal for you and constant I would get it checked out and emphasis those two points to your GP and ask to be referred to get it checked out properly at the breast clinic.

It is most likely to be nothing, but always worth checking and the breast clinic says they would much rather see lots of people for nothing than miss someone who has something.

I have had this for years- the GP wasn't concerned and wouldn't have referred me but I felt anxious because of family history. They referred me to the breast clinic and the consultant wasn't concerned but said she would send me for a mammogram. Everything was fine. This was 3 years ago. I saw the GP again about 18 months ago for reassurance and again they couldn't feel anything. It aches and if I lie on my chest or lean on it I am aware of it unlike the other breast. This is the breast I had mastitis in when I fed my eldest and this breast has always been slightly larger. If you are worried and need peace of mind please see your GP X

Having re read your post you are worried- please don’t let that stop you seeing your GP as I think that’s the only way you will get peace of mind. If they refer you to the breast clinic you should look at it that you will be thoroughly checked and if it is anything to worry about- which for most women it isn’t- you haven’t left it X
