Numbness after breast reduction

I hope this is in the right place to post. Here goes.. I’m 13 years post breast reduction and lift and the underneath part of my breast is totally numb, from the nipple downwards only on one breast. Has anyone else had this?

Just following as I'm interested in having the same procedure. Do you mind me asking if nipples are numb or just the area below?

fatpengu1n · 24/07/2022 18:08

I had a reduction when I was 18 and I'm now 31 and still numb! I think it's very normal after surgery. I recently had a c section and the area around the incision is numb too.

Danielle8p · 24/07/2022 18:08

As in the whole bottom half of breast

This is a very common side effect from all breast surgery due to the severing of nurves at the incision site and the risk of further damage with the creation of the pocket for implants and/or the removal of breast tissue in the case of a lift or reduction.

Yep the whole bottom of my breast and the nipple.

Danielle8p · 24/07/2022 20:46

@floppybit just the breast below. Nipples still have sensation although we’re number for a few months after

Yeah the whole bottom of my actual breasts - the “round bit” and the bottom where you would cup them.

ImprobablePuffin · 24/07/2022 22:21

I had a reduction and lift 8 months ago and have regained full feeling/sensation but I was told that may not happen and I could stay numb.

I think it also depends on how the surgeon did it as there are a few different ways the surgery can be done.

Same here. I had mine 13 years ago. They also grew back but that's a whole other story 😂😂

floppybit · 25/07/2022 11:15

@onelostsoulswimminginafishbowl oh no! I have to say this is something I'm worried about! How quickly did they grow back and are you now back to size you were before the op?

Same here, had mine done 16 years ago when i was 21, was a HH when i had surgery to go to a D cup, back to a HH now :-( hate them.
Took years to grow back, probably started early thirties, guess a combination of weight gain and pregnancy, would love another reduction but so expensive.

Does anyone else also have really lumpy boobs from scar tissue? I would never be able to tell if I had a ‘new lump’ which worries me. I have noticed I have a lump directly under my nipple (right under the pointy bit) on one boob but it’s probably always been there 🤷‍♀️

They are bigger now than before the reduction! 😬 but also, it was a long time ago, I was 26 and now I am 39, I am also about 15kg heavier than I was then! I think it's a combo of age and weight gain. I would have it done again if I had the money though, even a few years of smaller boobs was worth it!
Although I could also try a little harder to lose the 15kg 😂😂
