Dd13 started her period almost 2 years ago and they have been very heavy throughout. I assumed they’d have calmed by now but she mentioned she passes several large clots a day and needs night pads in the day time. I’m a bit concerned as I had similar which turned out to be pcos, cysts and endo. Would I be over reacting to ask a doctor to check her hormones or do a health check on her? Is there anything they can do to help? She’s getting distressed by it and as they last a full 7 days it’s becoming difficult for her. Some months it’ll be every 3 weeks not 4 weeks so I’m suspecting an ovulation problem. Any advice please?

No you would not be overreacting for your DD to be seeing a doctor now about her periods (why would you think this anyway?). Your DD is already finding it difficult and is becoming distressed. Heaviness of bleeding and or pain is not normal and is something she should not have to put up with at this age. I would certainly try and establish why this is happening as well as treating the symptoms. The doctor may well prescribe your DD the pill and whilst that will help with the symptoms it will mask the cause.

I would encourage her to keep a pain and symptom diary as this will give the doctor clues.

You would absolutely not be overreacting. I had the same problems when i was young. (Well all of my life infact) I was given an ultrasound at the age of 15 which revealed the beginnings of fibroids which I now take medication for one week per month to help with heavy flow.

I was the same. Really wish my DM had taken me to the GP.
