Blood test results - probably a silly question

I'm conscious I'm over sensitive at the moment as we're TTC and struggling with it not happening after quite a while.

I've had blood tests for something unrelated to TTC (unexplained bruises and various other things) that were requested as urgent tests I should have asap by my GP.

This was due to unexplained bruises, bleeding gums, recent infections (tooth and ears) and general fatigue.

At my blood test I asked the phlebotomist if I should call in a week or so to ask for the results, which is the usual protocol.

She said I should have a call working 3-4 working days if anything to discuss. They never ever usually say this, always that I should call my GP surgery in a week or so to request results.

Does this mean they've made a note somewhere that the tests are due to concerns for a serious condition?

If so what might that be based on those symptoms?

Perhaps she just happened to say something different to people previously as the phlebotomist might not have access to specific reasons for blood tests? She referred to it as a 'full blood work" IIRC.

Please do be honest with me if you're a medical profession - she printed about three pages and then said that re results.

So sorry to ask what may be a mundane question, I'm conscious I'm over sensitive due to our TTC upset.

No it doesn’t mean that, try not to worry. Different people just say different things. I have a colleague who says ‘if you don’t hear from the Dr in a couple of days, phone for results in a week’ . Another simply says ‘ring in a week for results’.

Blood test results actually come back, mostly, the next day, the Drs checking the results and making a note against the results -along with the results for 300+ other tests per week, are the reason they say a week for results. If there was a serious issue or urgent result the lab would actually contact the surgery the same day the bloods are taken.

I’ve known people have bloods taken at 10am and be in hospital by 5pm! Please try not to worry too much, wishing you lots of luck on your fertility journey Flowers

All of this OP . If there was a huge problem with your blood results the lab would contact GP Asap. 💐

I went for blood tests due to getting tired and headaches, I had my test in the morning and by late afternoon the gp had called me and I had to go to hospital as I needed a transfusion. They are tested the same day so if you haven’t heard by end of today if they do show anything it probably wont be anything serious.
