I keep getting these on my breasts. They seem too big to be spots as such.
They look painful but they're not really. This one has been on my breast for a good few weeks now. I don't want to bother the doctors if it's nothing but I am a little concerned and when they do go, they leave scarring.

My guess a hair that didn’t make it out of the skin so it is growing inside and getting inflamed.

CrapBag39 · 05/07/2022 19:26

I’ve got one right now. Usually it’s an ingrown hair. Sometimes they get a glorious head on them and I can pop them. Most of the time they’re just a tease and come and go without producing anything 😤

Inkdrinker · 05/07/2022 19:40

I don't think it's a hair as its about the size of a pea and produces a lot of pus, this one has popped.

Looks like a boil to me. Question is why are you getting reoccurring ones, there are many causes of this some more serious than others. Try being very careful with hygiene to start, use hibiscrub, wash all your bras with some disinfectant and let dry in the sun. Take vitamin D if you might be lacking. If that doesnt work, maybe time for Dr and some tests.

I'm diabetic and used to get these all the time before I was diagnosed. They're breast boils and caused by fungus.

I haven't had any for ages now I'm on medication but the only way to keep them at bay before was using hibiscrub/antibacterial soap, patting dry and then using Canesten cream all over the lower part/underside of the bust. Medicated talc like Cuticura can be soothing too.

ThierryEnnui · 05/07/2022 22:35

Look up Hidradenitis Suppurativa - could it be that? Breasts are a common area for the boils to present.

Tablechairtable · 05/07/2022 22:54

Make a doctors appt to have them checked. Probably nothing but either way surely you want something to be sorted. Looks painful.

So is this liked to diabetes?

Badger1970 · 06/07/2022 09:21

Yes, they often go hand in hand. It's always worth getting your blood sugars checked if you're finding regular skin issues like these.

I never knew that. Interesting, thanks for the heads up.

This is my left breast at this current moment.

I've been trying to get a gp appointment for ages but keep being told there's no appointments unless it's an emergency 🙃

Could this be cancer or something? 😨

How often do you wear your bras before washing them?

KittyCatsby · 26/07/2022 16:05

It also looks like you have a sweat rash under them , this will cause a fungal infection , so perhaps related .

I do have a rash under them. I have done for quite some time. I'm large breasted, double II and things do get sweaty there especially during a 12 hour shift xx

Say they’re painful and insist on an appointment and your bloods checked?

Dermol 500 is a useful moisturiser for keeping bacteria under control. Also do you wear cotton bras?

MakingNBaking · 26/07/2022 16:49

My dsis suffered for years with these and has been left with scars. She experienced dreadful pain with them. She was constantly on antibiotics or roaccutane and various doctors over the years put it down to weight, mature onset diabetes, and PCOS.
They eventually disappeared when, for other reasons, she went onto permanent auto immune deficiency medications.

KittyCatsby · 26/07/2022 16:57

@Inkdrinker

You can try Lanacane powder under them . I have also heard that you can tuck tissues half in / half out of your bra , or even pant liners to soak everything up.

Rainydaize · 26/07/2022 17:03

I'm following with interest as I often get these. I've recently lost about 4stone and haven't got them recently actually.
