"Period Flu" - anyone else?

So I've been feeling really unwell the last week, tired in my body, aching legs, stomach aches, nausea, general sense of malaise, not sleeping well.

Can't for the life of me work out what it is, I don't feel like I have a virus, it's not like that. No cold symptoms or anything. Just feel "wrong". I've also fairly recently had blood tests done for something else and no problems found there.

Struck me that im about a week off my period coming, and that I remember feeling like this a couple of months ago.

Googled it and apparently period flu is a thing. Does anyone else get it? Can it really make you feel this bad?

Im on day 4 of feeling like I'm coming down with a cold but nothing has come out yet, I did a COVID test and it's clear , I'm 53 and 6 days late , usually early and pretty much irregular for two years now , I'm getting mild period cramps and had two tiny spots last week ,now I've read what you have I'm thinking it must be that , I'll probably get it tomorrow when I'm traveling on the train to visit family ,I know I've felt like this before but I have not linked it to the period yet but I'll have to start writing it in my diary to see if these symptoms match , fatigue slight nasal throat symptoms but not like full cold, keep waking up but sleepy in day eyes shutting but not actually sleeping, feel yucky and no energy

That sounds hard @Wobblysausage . Did the pill not help you at all? Do you think menopause will help? Because I feel like menopause might just be like feeling like this every day with no let up. I definitely feel better when the estrogen rises again but in menopause you lose that! All the post menopausal women I know have all manner of aches and pains and none of them can sleep 😭

And that’s what HRT is for I guess…mine is not as severe since starting HRT, though it’s still an issue.
