Excessive sweating in groin area

Not a troll. Been on MN for years, frequent name changer, MNHQ welcome to check me out, name changed for this as so embarrassing.

I have a problem with excessive sweating in my groin/crotch area. Had it for years but seems to be getting worse as I get older (late 40s). I shower and wear clean cotton underwear every morning but by lunchtime I am damp and feel very uncomfortable. Luckily I only work mornings and have to shower and change when I get home. I'm sure it's not wee but do wear a tena light pad to try and absorb some of it. There's no way I could wear light colour trousers, dresses and skirts are difficult.

I can't even imagine going to the GP about this and starting the conversation. Anyone else out there who suffers and can give me any hope? I did read about botox but no idea if this is safe or effective l

👋
Me to. Definitely sweat, because (tmi) its the edge of my knickers not the middle that gets damp.
I'm sure loosing some weight would help in my case.
I have wondered about antiperspirant?

This stuff is very expensive, but works. Also brilliant for boob sweat.

Thank you for the replies. I've tried a few products but not that particular one, will order some and give it a go.

I have this issue as well. Always had it but has gotten worse with age and weight gain. I wear a thin panty liner every day which helps.

Gingernaut · 15/06/2022 20:04

Hyperhidrosis

Head, face, armpits, hands, groin and feet.

Partway through the day, my pantyliners come unstuck as my knickers get too damp.

It's depressing and it's become worse as I get older.

Yes to the panty liner coming unstuck! Then the pants are too damp to stick a new one on, hence the change of underwearBlush

Thank you, I did read about this but seems scary!

Botox has been used for years for excessive sweating. I'd look for a practitioner that specialises in it as you won't get it on the NHS anymore. My friend is a GP but does Botox for this privately.

minidancer · 15/06/2022 20:38

Having said that she does always like people to see their GP first just to check there are no underlying causes for the sweating so you might have to be brave and see your GP first!

I have a sweaty crotch too. I must be wafting out a huge trail of pheromones as I walk along a la Pepe le Pew.

Annonnimoouse42 · 15/06/2022 20:55

I use Femfresh deoderant spray, which I can only find on Amazon now. It works well for groin/ underboob

catfunk · 15/06/2022 20:59

It's quite normal, just like an armpit but less air circulating.

You could cover your vulva and apply a sensitive deodorant spray into the leg creases?

RumpleDumple · 15/06/2022 21:09

I have this too, it's so embarrassing 😳 in the height of summer I take to wearing dresses (im loving the current fashion for floaty dresses at work- godsend). But I also use underarm sweat pads on my knickers. 2 at each side and they really do help. I get them from amazon and change them when they get damp, but it does mean my knickers don't get damp. I also carry a spare pair of knickers as I sometimes sweat randomly in the winter down there and I've not left the house prepared.

Also, check your medication. I was on venlaflaxine and the sweating was horrific. 2 weeks of it and its way more manageable.

Thanks for the sweat shock recommendation- just ordered it 👍

ToGetToTheOtherSide · 15/06/2022 21:15

Ooh good idea about the underarm sweat pads.
Thing is I can't wear floaty dresses as I have the double joy of large thighs and therefore the dreaded chub rub. Can't wear the chub rub shorts as it makes me even more sweaty. So I just have to stick to dark lightweight trousers.

I’m the same, I can’t wear light colour or tight fitting clothes as the sweat would be very visible, I often change underwear a few times in the day. Currently wfh but that’s likely to change in September and I’m dreading it.
i also have larger thighs which definitely don’t help with the heat down there!
this is my method which helps a bit: I wear Mitchum roll on on my inner thighs and sweat wicking knickers. For the chub rub I use glide which is a brilliant roll on for chafing and the best I’ve found. I can at least wear dresses now.
I’m going to look into Botox too but I’m hideously embarrassed about it. A quick Google and it’s approx £600 😱
hard to gauge where’s reputable as most places don’t seem to do the groin

ToGetToTheOtherSide · 18/06/2022 21:35

@Iwishiwereamillionaire thanks so much for your reply. It's been very comforting to know that I'm not alone with this problem. Had no idea Botox cost that much! I wish there was a better/cheaper solution. Will look into your suggestions thank you.
