Vaginal prolapse

Hi all,
So I think I've had some type of prolapse. I have a fleshy sac protruding into and poking out from the entrance of my vaginal. Only other symptoms are itchiness and frequent urination. For background, I'm forty, with two kids under four. I'm a healthy weight now, but was overweight for a year after my youngest was born. No trouble with pelvic floor previously.

Due to covid, I can't get into doctors until next Friday.

Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience and if so, what types of treatment you undertook?

Hi,
I have a posterior wall prolapse and an anterior wall prolapse that I discovered at 12 weeks postpartum. The symptoms for me are a full feeling, a dislodged tampon feeling and a very visable bulge from the posterior prolapse.
I was referred to pelvic floor therapy by my GP. The physiotherapist gave my prolapses grades of severity and I've been doing as instructed since. I'm now 5 months postpartum.

Depending on what prolapse you have and what grade there are several treatments routes you can take, although surgery Is the only real anatomical fix I believe.

I had it almost full term. It was painful and scary. Rang out of hours GP and actually got a house call. It all turned out ok. I can't remember the medication but you should take it seriously. GP said I'd be hospitalised if the meds didn't work.

Hi ladies sending big hugs unfortunately prolapse is very common and sadly one of those things that isn't spoken of unlike menopause. I have three prolapses, grade 2 my worst is my rectocele. There is loads of ways to help and improve before having surgery many do not have it and find ways to live with it. You need to see a pelvic floor physio.

There is a really helpful and informative group on fb FPOPS UK 5000 UK ladies all going through similar issues. I highly recommend this group you are not alone.

Xx

Hi @Goneblank38 what was it in the end? Was it a prolapse?
I'm 5 months post partum and have the same symptoms of you. I can't get to the gp for another week as AF is due tomorrow.

MerryHen · 20/03/2023 13:22

Hi @fairgame84 , I'm in the same boat. 9 weeks postpartum and think I have a prolapse, exacerbated by having a cough this weekend. I have my 6-8 week checkup with the GP tomorrow so am going to ask then. Feeling quite down about it, it's quite uncomfortable :/

fairgame84 · 20/03/2023 14:18

@MerryHen it's shit isn't it. Looking at the nhs website, it doesn't look they do much about it.
I'm going to see the gp after AF, I'm overdue a smear anyway, then if it is a prolapse I'll probably book with a private women's physio.

I have a grade 2 pop ( had it on and off since DD1 who is now 26!) it recently started bothering me more so I went hell for leather with pelvic floor exercises. 3 times a day every day. Took about 6 weeks to really notice a difference but it is soooo much better than it was so I have kept at them religiously. I started with the NHS Squeezy app but now just do them as and when I remember.

fairgame84 · 30/03/2023 14:47

I had my smear today and I don't have a prolapse. She said there is a bumpy bit near my vaginal entrance which is what I thought was the prolapse but it's not. She said it's normal. It's obviously a new normal post birth that I'll have to get used to.
I got used to the changes after DC1 so hopefully in time I'll get used to this.

There needs to be more awareness and support with these issues, so many women are suffering with them and being fobbed off
