Period pain

Currently sat here in agony, pains radiating down my legs and around my back. I have diarrhoea and nausea. Took painkillers but I just threw them up. This woke me up at 4am. Have been on my knees hunched over as it's the only position that eases it but can't sleep that way. Not that I could nod off anyway.

So fed up of this every month. Seems to get worse as I get older (37)

I can't find my hot water bottle either 😔

I’m so sorry OP. Can you take meltlets so you absorb them faster? Nurofen make meltlets, and you could also take Calpol meltlets. Hope you feel better soon.

Been there and done that. In my case the endometriosis was affecting my sciatic nerve. Sometimes both painkillers and a hot water bottle would not touch the sides of the pain.

Have you ever had formal investigations as to why this is happening?.
Endometriosis is a common cause of severe and or ongoing period pain and I was wondering if anyone had ever mentioned this to you.

At the very least you need to see a gynaecologist and if finances allow it I would pay for an initial consultation (I also suggest that as NHS waiting lists to see a gynae are very long currently). Pain like described is not normal and you should not have to put up with it.

I've never seen anybody, no. It never occurred to me.

It's only the first day of my period, then no pain so I just put up with it.

I can't take ibuprofen for medical reasons, I can only take paracetamol.

I managed to take another 2 paracetamol and fall asleep and am OK now.

It's just such a pain in the arse being a woman.

You could also ask your GP for codeine?
