Hi everyone,

I'm a 26 year old female who has always had fairly heavy and painful periods. I've had the coil in for nearly two years and yet it hasn't helped with the pain or bleeding. My periods last anywhere from 7-12 days.

Today though I'm in a lot of pain and passing clots. Will post picture below.

Is this normal?

I've had that before on my periods.

I had ones much bigger than that very suddenly and it was a large fibroid. Go see your GP.

Endometriosis.

I have it and would pass clots like that and larger when I was in my teens. I was fortunate enough to be diagnosed at 17 by a female dr who sent me for laparoscopic surgery. The pain and clots reduced significantly afterwards. Sadly there is a massive wait for this on the NHS now (like for most things). I now also have PCOS, so a whole host of other issues. But the Endo has been helped massively by laparoscopic surgeries. I had to have another before falling pregnant with each of my children in order for them to make sure nothing was impacting my tubes.

Like others have said, periods shouldn't be painful. Large clots aren't normal. Don't let the Dr fob you off

Forgot to say periods were horrific and painful. They've eased up after I've had children though, but I still get pain for a day or so that feels like back to back labour. I suspect it's the scaring from the Endo that's causing it
