After 3 years of awful periods that ended in a blood transfusion I had a mirena coil inserted in early March. Its cured the horrible periods but just days after it was inserted my vulva began to split , go red raw and itch. I'm awaiting swabs in 2 weeks as Dr wants that done first. Its spread around to my bum! I have two sore splits down my inner leg where my pants sit. I have a split down each side of the bit under the pubic bone. I've tried thrush creams. Thrush pessary. Sudocrem. Aloe Vera gel. I just started caneflore oessaries 2 nights ago.

Currently sat at the park with My son.y he walk was so uncomfortable. It feels like the sores are getting caught on my clothing.

I've just split up from a stressful relationship too and I've got little psoairiasis patches on my neck and chest developing.

So upset as it feels like I may be stuck in this discomfort now and it's knocked my self confidence. I got myself some dresses for summer and was going to be more positive thus year and now I've got horrible skin.

Any advice.

Have you tried vagisil as is over the counter and contains Lidocaine

Inthesameboatatmo · 16/05/2022 18:58

Could it be lichen sclerosis op? . I've recently been diagnosed after a visit to a private hp because my normal gp was absolutely useless.

Inthesameboatatmo · 16/05/2022 18:59

Private gp ffs.

NoEffingWay · 16/05/2022 21:26

Get the coil out, this has to be worse than what you have now?!

The OP has a diagnosis of psoriasis. There's a particular type of psoriasis that is identical in symptoms. It's an autoimmune disease that has periods of flare and remission and although it's tempting to attribute flares to a particular circumstance, the reality is that it can just appear whenever and wherever it feels like it.

It makes sense to treat it as a psoriasis flare in a different area before deciding to remove contraception/something that enables her to not have heavy periods, rather than having to deal with those and then find it was psoriasis all along.

I've emailed the Dr's this morning to ask oif they prescribe me anything. I just want to rip my skin off. I hope I can have something by tonight. 😑

@Strawberrydelight55 OP what happened in the end? I have just posted with similar issues.

Hey that sounds so bad, you poor thing. One thing I do for psoriasis is go to the tanning salon, get a lie down bed and get naked and get the light on the bad bits, sunscreen on the good parts. The sunlight really helps, especially those discreet areas that don't get enough. Then bepanthan or virgin coconut oil. You could also go commando everywhere - wear a skirt everyday and no one will know :)

Well, it sounds to me like lichen sclerosis. I'm no doctor but I've had it for over 20yrs and know the various symptoms. To ease the pain of the splits try either sitting in or applying with a soft cloth, a solution of baking soda in warm water. I have graduated to borax solution and a 'on top of the toilet' portable bidet. It works wonders. Using a cream for piles which contains lidocaine is good to, as is going commando whenever possible. Good luck with a diagnosis, get to a dermatologist who knows about the condition

Hi, have you tried an emollient ointment on the vulva? Women who have vaginal atrophy caused by low estrogen and which can cause skin splits find this really helps and it’s something my GP recommended to me.
It’s available OTC and quite cheap to buy and can be applied as much as needed. It’s really protective and will help prevent friction when moving around. there are a few different brands including Epaderm and Hydromol and can also be used for washing they’re the ones in a tub www.nhs.uk/conditions/emollients/
