Help. DD can't get a doc appointment. Is this serious?

DD 19 (away at uni) has passed some "white fleshy tissue" from her vagina. She says about the length of her hand. Mid cycle, tiny bit of spotting but no real bleeding before then brown, coffee ground type sludge a bit later. Lots of pain and cramping before and still a lot of pain now.
Rang for GP appointment (I told her to as no idea/experience of anything like it)
Got a callback from nurse who it sounds like was quite dismissive, told her it was nothing to worry about, quite normal, possibly an early miscarriage (Confused) but to take paracetamol and she'll be fine.
I told her to call back and insist on an appointment but the earliest they could give her is a week away.
I feel like it's not something to ignore but no idea if I'm overreacting?
Should I be driving up there and taking her to a&e or telling her it's all ok and to listen to the nurse?
Any ideas or info gratefully received.

Where in her cycle is she?

JollyWilloughby · 11/05/2022 21:06

Hmm, I’m not sure. Can she take a pregnancy test? If it was a miscarriage it might pick up some HCG still?

KangarooKenny · 11/05/2022 21:07

Sounds to me like she’s she’d her uterus lining - can’t remember what it’s called - nothing to worry about.

JollyWilloughby · 11/05/2022 21:07

But no if she’s passed something and is in pain a week away is not acceptable. Walk in centre maybe?

hopelesslydevotedtoGu · 11/05/2022 21:07

Was it a decidual cyst?
I remember being very confused when I passed one once.

HesMyLobster · 11/05/2022 21:07

Her period is due in a week.
She's on the pill so unlikely to be a pregnancy? Although not impossible I know. Her flatmate has gone to get her a pregnancy test.

Decidual cast

KangarooKenny · 11/05/2022 21:09

I passed a decidual cast when on a period once. I was cramping and sweating, felt dizzy. It’s only years later, on here, that I discovered what it was.

Bentoforthehorde · 11/05/2022 21:11

Decidual cast possibly?
Is there a "what the heel just came out of my vagina" section of Mumsnet?
Probably should be.

JollyWilloughby · 11/05/2022 21:12

A decidual cast can be related to contraception or an ectopic pregnancy so a pregnancy test would be good to rule that out. Some ibuprofen to take too as well as paracetamol.

Discovereads · 11/05/2022 21:18

She could go to a sexual health clinic to rule out any STIs. At least that way someone medical will examine her and be able to tell of it was a miscarriage.

If she’s in massive pain, I would call 111 and ask for an out of hours GP appointment at your local hospital.

LittleOwl153 · 11/05/2022 21:22

111 is her answer to getting a quicker appointment.

HesMyLobster · 11/05/2022 21:43

Pregnancy test is negative.
Have googled decidual cast - how did I not know this was a thing?!
Sounds very likely that is what it was.
Unfortunately she panicked and flushed before thinking about photographing/keeping it.
Missed from my op: she called 111 as soon as she was refused a GP appointment and has been waiting for a callback since 2pm . . .
