I have had this condition for a number of years. I was sent for a biopsy a few years into symptoms and the results were not conclusive but it was suggested it might be.
Apart from that no specialist appointments.
GPS prescribed steroid as and when I requested it and I have had appointments over the years when in flare.
My latest flare was awful so I requested a referral to gynaecology. Very atrophic too.
My questions to both people with this condition and especially GPS to ask what steroid was/should be prescribed please?
Thank you

don’t have it but from others who do they use Dermovate ointment. Sometimes other steroids are prescribed. If you have vaginal atrophy an estrogen cream can also help

Tynetime · 28/04/2022 00:16

Thank you @over50andfab.
I am now on dermovate thankfully and have an estrogen vaginal tablet. I just feel I was prescribed too mild a steroid for too long and that this has probably contributed to disease progression. But I can't really prove it.

I was prescribed Dermavate.

Funny thing is, my neighbour and I were both diagnosed by our respective GPs as having LS. Both of us have since been told, me by a dermatologist and neighbour by another GP, that it wasn’t LS after all. Made me wonder if there was literally something in the water causing similar symptoms!

Tynetime · 28/04/2022 00:23

@INeedNewShoes Thank you. It is a bugger of a disease to diagnose that is for sure.

I have lichen sclerosis, and after many years it appears my daughter has found a cure! First she suggested V cream, which made a big improvement, then I started taking Moringa tablets 2000mg.
Over three months and absolutely no problem at all, read the ingredients etc, then found they were ant-fungal properties in them.
So all I can say, is try this out. I can’t believe my luck, worth a try.
