I'm very itchy down there but no discharge, no bad smell or burning when having a wee so not sure if it is thrush ? Is there anything else it could be? Need to know if it will go on its own or need to see dr
The itching is around the actual opening so not shaving rash or anything like that
Thank you!

Used /worn anything different?

Triffid1 · 10/04/2022 19:17

It does sound like thrush - I've had it where itching quicker to start than discharge. But could be hormonal imbalance etc. Also, I've had shaving itching in the past over the whole area, not just where I've shaved (and I don't shave there at all any more as a result).

Canestan certainly wouldn't do any harm. And if it didn't start to feel better, I'd see a doctor.

makeminealargeplease · 10/04/2022 19:18

Definitely sounds like thrush. Try a canestan pessary if it doesn't clear go to the GP for a swab test.

Mwy be thrush, but do a STD test just in case it’s chlamydia etc. Google walk in gum clinics.

Neverreturntoathread · 10/04/2022 19:19

Ps some people have this reaction to loo paper so maybe change brand to something high quality like Andrex quilted. But I’d get a STD test asap.

Scented toilet paper??

That stuff makes me itch just thinking about it

Deadivy · 10/04/2022 20:08

I've been suffering this, it made me so miserable, so saw a gyno this week, I didn't think it was thrush as no discharge but she confirmed it is, and 72 hours after a Fluconazole tablet & a cream around the opening I feel like a new woman. Next time I'll take one a the first sign of it.

FelicityFidget · 10/04/2022 20:50

Some sanitary towels/liners make me itchy. Have you used anything like that?

Sundancerintherain · 10/04/2022 20:54

Is the itching so intense that you want to scratch your skin off ? If so it sounds like thrush.

ASmallMovie · 10/04/2022 20:59

I had this and was in tears with the pain. Tried all the creams going. Nothing worked. It was menopausal or peri-menopausal. This was my only symptom and one I had been completely uninformed about. Vaginal pessary worked a miracle. Could be this.

ASmallMovie · 10/04/2022 21:00

Meant to say, I was in tears with the pain as I’d scratched so much. Was awful.

something2say · 10/04/2022 21:01

Try some Savlon.
Then tomorrow a thrush tablet.
If you're in your 40s, perhaps the oestrogen cream from the doctor...

northdownsouth7 · 10/04/2022 21:04

Have you changed anything in your routine recently? For example, shower gel or new washing detergent. There are some shower gels I cannot use because I have similar symptoms to the ones you’re describing (didn’t used to be a problem and find my body has changed since becoming a Mum). Sending Flowers

honeybushbunch · 10/04/2022 21:07

I’ve had this and was worried it was something else as canesten cream and fluconazole table didn’t seem to touch it — but the canesten pessary is the magic bullet! Try the pessary overnight, plus really bung a lot of the cream in there and you may find that sorts it out.
