So worried - high risk HPV

Posting here for advice and because I'm extremely worried and thinking all sorts Sad

I had my first smear last December and was called again for another late Feb/early March. Called the GP surgery to ask why and was told my sample was inconclusive so booked in again.

I've been tonight for my second and seen the nurse who said my previous results had actually come back that I was actually high risk HPV but due to the inadequate sample no further valuation could be done. I obviously had no idea and was really upset. I did also bleed a lot last time so not sure if this has anything to do with the results. I have also had my HPV vaccines and was told that this was really unusual for somebody of my age.

Anybody else had similar? I'm worried sick now and can't stop thinking of the worst Sad

Me too op, I also had the vaccines, I was told mine would go away on it's own, I just have smears a little more regular now as I also had high risk cells

I don't want to read and run, but just remember that HPV doesn't always turn into cancer.

The screenings are to prevent, and it's very common for people to have HPV cells. In fact most people will have HPV cells at some point in their life. Many women are called back for further tests, and sometimes to remove the cells if necessary and it turns out fine - not into cancer. Detecting HPV cells early is the best way to stop anything turning into something worse.

Thanks @kyliecat. As soon as she mentioned HPV I instantly thought of the big C Sad I know it doesn't always turn into that but I'm so worried now that it will.
