Rectocele during pregnancy *warning TMI*

Hi all,

TMI warning

I'm 99.9% sure I have very recently developed a rectocele (I'm going into my third trimester) - I can feel the bulge quite distinctively on the back wall of my vagina, and when pushing it I could quite easily run to the loo 😳

I phoned MW and have physio next week to assess etc....

Has anyone had this? I haven't even given birth yet (ever!) so I'm really concerned about it getting worse and/or more organs prolapsing, I know it's uncommon for this to happen before childbirth. Wonder if best to have a section or will it make no difference? I'm only 30 and have a good BMI. I don't know how this happened.

Advice please!!

Search for FPOPS UK (female pelvic organ prolapse support) if you are on fb hun and would like to join. Loads of ladies going through the same and pregnant also. Rectoceles are very common hun, i have one grade 2 and 2 other prolapses they often develop due to straining at toilet or weight of baby, heavy lifting before pregnancy etc.

They can be managed hun, just no straining at the toilet, jumping around etc and once baby is here things like pessaries to help, you need to see a pelvic floor physio once baby arrives (well 6 weeks or so after once things have settled )

I had that and bladder too after my first pregnancy. Totally fixed with seeing a women's health physio and learning how to do the exercises.

I had one caused by birth, OP. I had a gynae referral and OP to fix it.
