Pelvic Ultrasound Results

BeachesandIcecream · 24/03/2022 18:45

Had a pelvic ultrasound today and at the end I asked if everything was ok. The woman was quite short with me and just said your doctor will have them within a week ring if you haven't had them by then. I've had ultrasounds in the past and they've always given an indication of whether or not things seem OK. Should I be worried? I'm in full on anxiety panic mode now.

I think you just got a misery guts. Maybe they aren't allowed to discuss results with you since they aren't your dr but it wouldn't have killed her to say everything looked okay. I'd ring the dr tomorrow and tell them you are really stressed and if they've had the results could they let you know asap.
Tbh, when results are not good, I think the dr would contact you sooner rather than later themselves. I don't believe the hospital would sit on those results for a week before sending to the GP if there was something to worry about, so no news is good news imo

It's quite common for ultrasound technicians not to tell you anything and leave it to a doctor to analyse. I expect they're knowledgable enough to know the results but not allowed to make a diagnosis one way or the other.

The waiting sucks though. I wish someone could just take a look and put you out of your misery. I had a mammogram recently without being told the results straight away and I over-analysed the technician's words and demeanour afterwards for ages.

BeachesandIcecream · 24/03/2022 18:54

Thanks I know I've been doing the over analysing thing the only words she said was endometrial 4 to the other person in the room which I'm taking as endometrial lining is 4mm which on googling seems good. I'll ring tomorrow it doesn't help that I've had some borderline bloods back too that need repeating. So I'm just one big ball of anxiety, worrying mess right now.

I've had a couple of scans recently and was told absolutely nothing. I did look at the screen before she saw me looking and quickly clicked it off and it was a mass of blue and red colours, which scared me, but turns out it was just about marking the direction of blood flow! 4mm does sound hopeful though.

I'm also waiting for results (from an endometrial biopsy) and it's horrible, so Flowers

So results are back GPs receptionist called and they want to discuss along with blood results in 2 weeks...as the GP who I saw is on holiday. 2 weeks....I can't wait that long, I'm so flipping worried. What could they have seen surely if everything looked normal they would just say

Ring back and ask for a telephone consultation with another GP. It's not reasonable to expect you wait this length of time - tell them you are really stressed

BeachesandIcecream · 29/03/2022 12:14

I tried that told no appointments and they are wanting for bloods to come back which are due back tomorrow or Thursday. Said I can call Friday but they can't guarantee there will be an appointment. I'm literally shaking and feel sick.

I had exactly the same recently. The woman doing the scan was really officious. It would be incredibly helpful if before they start scanning, they say ‘I won’t be giving you any findings today…’

Then I got a scary (imo) letter from the hospital to say ‘please contact your GP to discuss your results’.

My results were fine btw. Hope yours are too.

WaltzingToWalsingham · 29/03/2022 12:27

It sounds to me as though there is something that requires attention, but that it's not too serious. If it was anything terrible, I'm sure they would have fitted you in to have an emergency appointment with one of the other GPs in the practice, not leave you hanging around for a fortnight. So on that basis, it's probably something routine and boring like a fibroid.

Bobojangles · 29/03/2022 12:49

My baby needed an ultrasound of his brain and the sonographer did exactly the same! You can imagine how absolutely terrifying it was (it was an inpatient scan and potentially serious)

Baby was absolutely fine

BeachesandIcecream · 29/03/2022 13:32

@Bobojangles how awful that must have been for you. @WaltzingToWalsingham that's my thoughts but it would be nice to have an idea of what I'm dealing with. They could atleast ring and say what they've found though other than getting the poor receptionist to call who is obviously going to get lots of questions thrown at her that she can't answer. Surely it would take the same amount of time to ring me and give me the results than it does to write a message to the receptionist to arrange an appointment.

I think if it was urgent they would be getting you an appointmetn with a different GP sooner. Hopefully all is OK.
I'm sorry you had that experience. The scan I had with sonographer was such a different experience to yours, she explained exactly what she was seeing. The scans I've had since have been with gynae consultants so slightly different.

Hope yours is all clear.

BeachesandIcecream · 29/03/2022 13:48

Thanks @comfortablyfrumpy. I've had ones in the past where they have told me results or given me an indication during the scan. Or I've rang gp surgery a few days letter and been told everything fine, I don't recall ever having to speak to a gp before.

Hey sounds like you need a follow up but non urgent.

Try not to stress.

Do you have the NHS App? It allows you to look at your medical history including recent test results.

BeachesandIcecream · 30/03/2022 10:25

I do but it doesn't show this as I still need to ask for full access to this part.

@BeachesandIcecream hi, experiencing something similar waiting for results. Hope it all went okay for you.

BeachesandIcecream · 08/08/2022 22:10

My results came back saying ill defined endometrium but measures 4mm( normal apparently). With signs of patchy echotexture that they think is adenymosis. Still slightly worried as been referred to gynae but its been 4 months now and still no appointment, so guessing no one is overly concerned.
