It's not an std. I've had that ruled out for a separate reason. For some reason my lady parts ate red raw, itchy and the odd split has appeared. Its got gradually worse over the last few months.

I've had a blood transfusion 3 months ago. I've started the mirena coil 2 weeks ago.

Other than that no changes. I am clean and bath daily. I honesty don't know what to use to treat it. I've been using eurax for the itch and canasta the last few days. I've also used sudocrem...

I'd also like to know the answer! I became worried about herpes when i read that papercuts on the vulva can be a symptom

BeetyAxe · 16/03/2022 23:07

Have you been to the doctor about it? Could be caused by lots of different things, you do need to get a professional to check it.

nuffinimlazyatthemoment · 16/03/2022 23:25

Could it be lichen sclerosus? How old are you? I think it's more common in women over 50 or going through the menopause.

KloppsTeeth · 17/03/2022 01:23

I’m going through the same thing. Just bought some over the counter Canesten stuff for BV.
Talking to some friends about it as we are all peri menopausal so wondered if it was a thing related to that. Two have similar experience, one was irritation from Always pads once they introduced the perfume. The other put it down to toilet paper with coconut oil in it. Could it be anything like that.
BV is not uncommon after having the mirena coil fitted. You can buy a test online or in a chemist, or just buy the treatment over the counter if your GP is like mine and you need to plan illness about 3 weeks in advance.

Maybe a topical oestrogen cream would help? It can really bolster the tissue in that area.

I'd second the LS suggestion. You'd need to be referred to a dermatologist. In my experience drs know little about it. I went for over 30yrs before I got a diagnosis - not that it helps much. Apart from Dermovate there's little that can be done. I'm sitting here in extreme discomfort now. Good luck

loopylindi · 17/03/2022 06:21

tapped send too soon. Apparently it's something to do with our auto immune system - that's why little can be done

KloppsTeeth · 17/03/2022 10:38

Sorry to hear that @loopylindi I did wonder if my discomfort is related to LS. I need to book an appointment to see my GP.

Are you sure it's not thrush?

Whatwouldscullydo · 17/03/2022 10:49

Have you changed brand of tampon/pad?

Washing powder?

Check the boxes/packets against any old ones see if there's any change in ingredients etc

I've had biopsys done which confirmed the diagnosis. Sanpro not needed now. What I have found to provide relief is water wipes from Sainsburys. Nothing but water in/on them and they are so cold.....lovely, and it does relieve the itching considerably. With regard to washing powder I often go commando and allow air circulation. Keep as ventilated as possible
