Wet smell under 1 breast

Nikki037297 · 01/03/2022 13:57

For a while now Iv noticed under my breast is wet all of the time and I had to start cleaning it a few times a day. My beasts are not too big I’m a 32E but the last few days this smell is awful! If I lean forwards and my breast kind of lift up a little I can smell this smell coming out the top of my T-shirt! I bought a cream for thrush and have been putting that on there but it’s not helping.
Does anyone know what it can be? The smell is like a really sour smell, it’s not red and there is no open sore or anything it’s just getting wet and very smelly all of the time. It’s not happening on my other breast only my left one

It's a thing that happens. It probably has a name, but I don't know what it is.
It clears up really fast- you just need to keep it dry. Wash it, dry with a hair dry, several times a day. It will disappear.

In future make sure you dry well before dressing, perhaps use talc.

It's not a big problem, once you recognise it and nip it in the bud.

Ok thank you so keep it dry, should I put some toilet roll under my breast to soak up the wetness?

Sounds like it could be a yeast infection.

picklemewalnuts · 01/03/2022 14:24

That can help, Nikki, but can cause irritation as the paper crumbles. A cotton hanky would be better.

Justkeeppedaling · 01/03/2022 14:26

I use anti perspirant under my breasts on hot days - would that help?

I think maybe a panty liner would be better than tissue paper if you want to use something to soak up the moisture.

picklemewalnuts · 01/03/2022 14:26

If you're home based, just wash and dry it at the first sign of dampness. It really will clear fast.

Talc is fine too, but you need to wash and dry regularly the first day, otherwise it will just get sticky and crumbly.

SalsaLove · 01/03/2022 14:26

Make sure you rinse off all the soap, but I agree with previous poster that it could be a yeast infection.

Blossom64265 · 01/03/2022 14:29

It is very likely yeast, it just hasn’t gotten bad enough to inflame the skin yet.

In addition to using an anti-fungal, you need to keep things really dry. During the day, a bit of gauze under the breast can be useful. Change it out periodically.

For night, take an old knit slim fitting top or tank and cut strategically placed slits. No need to hem, the knit fabric won’t fray. You can layer that top under your pajamas.

Blossom64265 · 01/03/2022 14:30

If you don’t have gauze, a paper towel works better than tissue.

I use liquid talk for this. Put some under each breast every morning after my shower and it stays dry all day. I'd previously started to get really sore skin under there but since I've been using liquid talc it's completely cleared up. If you're in the uk, Asda sell it for about £1 a bottle.

Nikki037297 · 01/03/2022 21:43

Thank you everyone I have put some long cotton wool pads underneath my breast. Yes I’m UK and will have a look for the liquid talc.
So is the thrush cream the right cream to be using?

I use Daktacort, it’s for yeast/fungal infections, would recommend!

You really don't need cream- better to keep it dry than moist with a cream.

Though I guess it could help at night when you aren't going to be washing and drying anyway.

picklemewalnuts · 02/03/2022 08:00

Are you on antibiotics? They can make it more likely.

Mrsjayy · 02/03/2022 08:02

I discovered liquid talc recommended on Mn its amazing stuff I just put it under every day now, but you probably have thrush/fungal infection that's why it smells, keep it dry and use cannisten cream under it it should clear up.

Mrsjayy · 02/03/2022 08:04

Thrush cream dries in fine or try sudacreme

Nikki037297 · 02/03/2022 16:32

I haven’t been on any antibiotics I am 9 weeks pregnant and it has only got worse in my pregnancy but I’m sure that’s not much to do with it and it’s winter here if it was summer I would have assumed the hot sweaty weather.
Anyways I put cotton wool under yesterday cleaned myself and changed the cotton wool for bed and it seams
Much better today
