Hi

Firstly unsure if this has been posted in the wrong place.

(Will be seeing a Dr soon as I'm out of iso)

I need help with incontinence.
I've always had a weak ish bladder, in the sense of always needing to go.

I've had one baby by c section. So not even a vaginal birth. 7 years ago.

Why am I always leaking urine?
Sneezing, coughing does it.
(Currently have covid so the cough is making it worse) today alone I've been through 5 tena pads. And currently using 2 doubled up. Mortifying.

I also do drink A LOT of fizzy drinks. A little overweight. Not by an enormous amount.

I've heard that this can make it worse. I want to know if people have tried losing weight and giving up the fizz has helped.

Just for added info

1 child, c section.
Non smoker for 8 years
Almost 38
Barely touch alcohol (think a few times a year)
Not a strenuous job.

I didn't think this could happen without a vaginally birth.

Any advice is helpful.
Even sympathy at this point. I'll take it all

I think pregnancy alone puts a massive strain on the pelvic floor: I’ve had two sections and as far as I know they never suggest that bladder weakness is only the preserve vaginal births. Do you do kegel exercises for your pelvic floor? I doubt the fizzy drinks are specifically anything to do with it - just sounds like your liquid intake is high so there’s always something there to “leak”, iyswim! You should probably try to swap them for water, for your bladder, health, and weight…but I’m sure you know that.

Fizzy drinks are bad - especially those with aspartame or caffeine

Also orange juice, tea coffee and chocolate

Pregnancy places pressure regardless of which birth you have - please ask for a referral to Women's physio

Have you looked at the squeezy app? It nhs supported and guides you through pelvic floor exercises, includes a bladder diary and exercise plan.

Don't be fobbed off by your gp though, too many doctors don't take womens pelvic floor issues seriously in this country and there's absolutely no reason why they can't be treated.
