Anyone who's had a mastectomy fancy chatting?

I had a mastectomy and reconstruction last year for breast cancer. All seems fine now but still have some residual scar tissue around the edge of the implant and the lymph node removal incision.
Also still have numbness of most of the skin over the breast. I had my nipple removed so am thinking of getting a 3D nipple tattoo at some point.

It just feels a bit weird that I have no one to talk to this about. My best friend kind of "dumped" me when I was diagnosed and I'm not so close to my other friends to discuss breast issues. I wouldn't mind, but I think they would think it's TMI!

So...just wondered if others who have been through similar would be interested in sharing experiences?

Hello

I'm around for only 30 mins or so, but wanted to say I have had 2 separate mastectomies with a flap reconstruction, back in 2014 and 2017. I had lymph nodes removed and now have matching scars in my armpits, which have faded pretty well. My boobs are still pretty numb even after this time, can feel pressure not nothing sharp.

I had surgical nipples made, the first one has shrunk and gone nearly flat but the other stands proud - all the time - but to be honest I am just glad I'm still around.

Time (a lot of it) has made the scars fade, and tiny amounts of feeling come back as nerves grow so slowly.

So sorry to hear about being dumped - it is so hard when none of your friends have gone through this other than having found a cyst or something and then it's the end of the(ir) world.
