How to get crutches for PGP/SPD

Does anyone know the best route to go to get crutches for PGP/SPD? I'm 8 months tomorrow and had pgp since about 6 weeks but it feels like suddenly something has just gone and I've gone from walking around the house to crawling on all fours. Can midwife/dr help access crutches on NHS or will I have to go down the Red Cross hire route? I know NHS physio waits are months and months long, so have been having student physio at the uni I work for (bet they can't give me crutches though!) Thanks

Just buy some online? They're not expensive.

Thanks! I just checked Amazon. You can very reasonably...everything on there of course, should have thought of it earlier and at least won't involve leaving the house to get some!

Gosh this sounds horrendous. I had PGP when I was pregnant not nearly as bad as you by the sounds of it. I saw a women's health physio (private) and it made a massive difference I would really say it is worth it, you can't carry on with the pain.
Would the GP not give you crutches if you had an appointment?

I don’t know if this is the case all over the country but our trust actually has a big shortage of crutches (thanks covid) so if you can afford to get them yourself I think that will definitely be the quickest way

Have you tried a medical bump support belt, they are not cheap,I paid £40 10 years ago but they really do help.Nhs physio recommended.

Thanks all, appreciate it xxx
I had pelvic issues for years and pgp in last pregnancy and saw an amazing private womens physio PhD who had who had written the textbooks, she was local but seems to have retired...sob!!! Been on pelvic partnership trying to find another. Got all exercises from last time n been wearing serola belt since about 6 weeks. Think I might be beyond help this time though lol 😆 at least only 1 month to go....

Argos also sell them. I used them postpartum for hypermobility.

Do check out osteopath, Swiss ball, massage, pilates, pregnancy pillow between legs at night - midwives seem baffled by SPD, but there is plenty that you can do for it.

My husband sooo generous..he's just posted a wanted ad on free cycle for crutches...ha ha ha. Ill go amazon if not. Yes have been doing all that kind of stuff, pilates x2 a week, leg pillows etc for years as dodgy pelvis before pregnancies ...think it finally just had enough. At least it held out for 8 months. I miss my old physio though :o(

Full sympathy. I was on crutches with both of mine, from 6 months with my first and 4 months with my second

Crutches were a game changer.

Oh gad you poor thing. Had friends the same, incidentally they both v fit and athletic in full physical health before so just goes to show it can strike anyone anytime in pregnancy. Fingers crossed crutches help, got an energetic 4 year old with asymptomatic covid at home so I need to be a little mobile as only hubby can help around work at the moment. Think it's come on now as I've been doing more as he's not in nursery. Fingers crossed he's back to nursery soon
