Minitouch ablation without any analgesia?

Anyone had this? I'm desperate at this point and it could have this as soon as next month if I'm prepared to deal with the pain!

Part of me is furious that as woman we are expected to put up with being put through painful procedures with no analgesic in 2022 just to get some medical help.

The other half of me is just so desperate and I need my life back.

My surgery should have been ablation, sterilisation and investigation. Obviously I won't have those other procedures or at least I'll be put back at the bottom of the list if I have this other procedure.

Anyone had experience? I know it's done, I've had biopsies with no analgesia but expecting this will be a lot worse.

Oh, I'm going to follow your thread as I'm in the same position. Hopefully others will be able to answer your question for us both to have some idea if it could be feasible

Glad I'm not alone. I got a phone call today and they said someone would call next week if I wanted to know more. I said yes, so I will probably know more next week. I am going to ask why I can't have something, I mean it's still way cheaper for them if they give me ALL THE DRUGS 😂

From what I can tell from online it is pretty quick, around 20 minutes, which is great, but I'm still not sure why we have to suffer through it. I mean you wouldn't have dental treatment without pain relief. She just said for me to take a paracetamol!

Hello - I had an ablation in May without any pain relief. I was offered gas and air but declined as that makes me sick.

It was uncomfortable but not painful as such - only when they hit something poked/prodded the C Section scar and that pain was over as soon as it started.

I took painkillers when I got home - was similar to painful period cramps - and went to sleep. Was fine by the next day.

I hope this gives you some reassurance even if just a little.

Thank you, it does. Although I have multiple scars but still yes, it does help. Thanks .

Did it help with bleeding?

@Newnamefor2021 yes thankfully. I had to have 18 blood transfusions as my Hb kept dropping as low as 6. I have other medical issues that prevent a hysterectomy being carried out with ease so this was a last gasp solution. It hasn't stopped my bleeding completely, BUT instead of life threatening bleeding rendering me completely incapacitated, I've literally had two minor bleeds/light periods since the procedure.

Sorry you went though that but it sounds hopefully. I had a transfusion last month and bled almost constantly since Aug 2020. So hope it helps, anything is better than this.

@Newnamefor2021 fingers crossed it has the desired effect for you too. I would take paracetamol before you go and have some ibuprofen on hand to take alternately. Good luck with it all.

I’m in a similar position but I’ve actually opted to have the ablation under a local as I don’t do well with GA. My ablation is scheduled for 9th February but I am so apprehensive as I am quite concerned about the pain.

Newnamefor2021 · 23/01/2022 17:46

Me too. I'm not sure what's happening with mine now. I was told someone would call me on Monday or Tuesday, but that didn't happen. So not sure what list I'm on. Or how to find out!

It's worrying isn't it? I hope it all goes smoothly and isn't too uncomfortable.

Same for you, hope it goes well whatever you choose to opt for.
