Could someone give me some advice ☺️
My period has been super bad this month really uncomfortable & really heavy !
My period started 24th December, so now on day 10 ? It doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all … is 10 days normal? I don’t think it’s ever been this long. I have pcos….

Have you recently had the covid booster/vaccine? I found it messed with my cycle. Try ibuprofen it helps reduce flow

Fallagain · 03/01/2022 19:30

How heavy is super heavy? More than a pad an hour you need to seek medical attention.

Lifesforloving1 · 03/01/2022 19:31

@mrsmoppp
I haven’t had it yet no… humm, Thankyou will give it a go. Is 10 days normal?

I have just had covid and I have had this! it has been brutal, normally my periods are light and not too bad. So if you have had covid I wonder if it could be that or as the other poster said, if you have recently had a vaccine?

After ten days that does sound a lot. I might have a morning like that on day 2 but it always eases off after a day or so (not nice at the time and prone to flooding but it’s never gone on beyond 24 hours). I’d call the Dr in the morning, OP.

I had this last year. I have pcos and endometriosis. I was flooding a towel and tampon within two hours. Tranexamic acid only helped slightly, norethistone did nothing. My wonder cure was the mirena coil as the gynaecologist explained it was hormonal and would probably happen again. I would say as for tranexamic tomorrow and if it doesn’t help/stop within 4 days go and ask for a gynae appt. I also had an internal scan to check for polyps etc.

Regular ibuprofen can lessen blood loss. Be careful of your stomach though.
It's worth reading about.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/01/2022 06:39

Unceasing bleeding was in my case also due to constant falling and rising levels of both progesterone and estrogen.

I would urge you to see a gynaecologist for further evaluation, this needs their help. I did not need the mirena, infact it was never mentioned.

How old are you, are you peri menopause age ?

tootyfruitypickle · 04/01/2022 06:45

I had a 6 week insane period , it was just peri. I did have a d&c investigation which was fine and also left me with completely pain free periods for 6 months which was a joy!

tootyfruitypickle · 04/01/2022 06:46

Also gynae said mirena and I didn't want it and although period is painful again it's 'normal' now, no more insane ones so far!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/01/2022 15:44

Do not put up with painful periods; ongoing painful periods are not normal and could be an indicator of endometriosis being present.

I ended up having endometrial ablation surgery to deal with the constant and heavy bleeding as it was affecting my day to day life very badly.
