In November 2020 my uncle (mums brother) died. He was a raging alcoholic and he also had leukaemia. Although he's been I'll for a while, it was still a shock.

In may this year another uncle (my dad's brother) died of lung cancer. It was fast and brutal, 9 weeks from diagnosis.

In November my gran died of Brain Cancer (my mums mum) again this was really fast, approx 12 weeks from diagnosis.

My mum went for a routine mammogram last week, and has been called back for 'investigation' next Friday. She 64 very healthy, no other conditions.

Im petrified. Can't take a breath in properly.

Have any of you been called back for investigation after a mammogram?

I was called back after my routine mammogram in February. First let me say 9/10 recalls are for benign reasons and breast cancer is one of the most successful cancers to treat if it does turn out to be that. I did have breast cancer. It was treated very swiftly and efficiently. The hardest part was the waiting for the initial appt and then the results, although I was told at the first appt it was most likely cancer. Once I had the diagnosis and treatment plan I was able to focus on getting through it. I cannot praise the NHS enough for the care and attention I received. Please be reassured that if your mum does need treatment she will be treated in the same way. I wish her and you all the best.

I have breast cancer now and was told at initial appointment but am too young for screening. I think, could be wrong, on the bupa site it says mammograms flag issues up for 4 times as many women as have cancer. So hopefully she is in the 3 in 4 without and if not if caught via screening its more likely to be early stage and more treatable.
