HPV and changes in cervix

Did anyone else ever receive this result back from their smear test?

I've to wait for a letter to attend the colposcopy clinic within 8 weeks. I also wondered how this would affect my HRT

Any advice or help or experiences greatly appreciated Smile

@ThierryEnnui

Hi OP, really pleased you are getting a lift to your appointment.

I had the same results as you each year for 4 years (cell changes - mine were mild - and HPV infection). I had annual colposcopies and it never progressed to higher grade changes, so it was really just a case of monitoring. At my 5th colposcopy, the changes had totally receded and the cells had gone back to normal, and the HPV infection had cleared. I pay privately for annual smears, and they have remained normal and HPV-free ever since.

Sending a hand hold for your appointment and do keep posting if you are worrying or feeling frightened Flowers

Thank you , these posts are really reassuring. Im feeling a little bit better about it all now. This time next week the first appointment will be over and done with!!

"They did a colonoscopy biopsy"

Colposcopy.

CoteDAzur · 18/01/2022 07:29

Colposcopy is nothing to worry about. They just paint your cervix with vinegar and look at it.

At this time, they might also clip bits off for biopsy. This is no more painful that clipping your nails, as there are no nerve endings on the cervix.

@Dollface20

When I was 24 I had CIN3 results which were obviously abnormal results. They did a colonoscopy biopsy and then I had to have them lasered off I'm not going to lie and say it wasn't painful because it was after the numbing wore off but I knew it had to be done. Then I went onto have annual smears for a few years. I did have hpv but now 10 years later I have had dc and been told my hpv has gone. So honestly don't panic it's quite common you will be fine xx
Thank you 😊

I did have biopsies taken during a couple of my colposcopies and I wouldn’t say it was pain free (but I have some cervical erosion - whole other condition! - which may have been why). They will usually give you a sanitary towel if they do a biopsy, as you can bleed a little bit but in my experience it was really only in the immediate hour or so afterwards and then normal thereafter!

@DiaryofWimpyMumm
I have had this multiple times now, during pregnancy a midwife told me she could see some abnormalities and that I needed to get a smear after ds is born.

That came back as CINll so had them removed by laser. Had the same again the year after but they couldn't remove all of it due to not having much cervix left. They referred me for a hysterectomy to remove the risk of it progressing further, that was two years ago and they keep booking me in for it and then cancelling due to Covid.

I have had all the children I would like to though and this was what they based their decision on (I believe).

Everyone throughout has been lovely and understanding of my nerves. Nothing has being overly painful or unmanageable and I think sometimes the worry about it progressing further is the hardest thing about it all.

I wish you all well with your results.

Thank you ladies I'm feeling a bit better about it now. My mum said that she thinks if they see anything with my cells they might just zap them. I don't think this will happen.

My mum must have it in her mind as she dreamt she lost me in the hospital and couldn't find me.

My son was originally going to take us but his speedometer broke in his car and it's down the motorway. My dad really didn't want to take us as the roads so horrible but by this time next week it will be over with and know what to expect for the next visit.

Well that's it all over with.
I had a lady talking to me all throughout it and the doctor had to take 2 biopsies as on a scale to cells being normal being 1 and severely abnormal a 5 I scored a 3 so ice to have then seen to when biopsies are back.

Thank goodness that's that bit over with.
