Why do I sweat even when I'm cold?

This is a weird one...
I'm 36 and for the past 6/7 years (so since I've had children), I sweat under my armpits in (tmi) in my groin area a lot. The weird thing is that the rest of my body will be feeling cold but those 2 areas will be sweating.

I'm not overweight at all (UK 6)

It's actually really annoying because I have to change my underwear often, and use deodorant multiple times a day.

Clearly its something hormonal but any ideas what? Does this happen to anyone else? It's just really annoying!

Sounds like hyperhydrosis maybe

Do you take any medication? I was given something for nerve pain (I can't remember which but it was amatriptaline or similar) and it made me sweat buckets! I'm usually a cold person but I was sweating on a cold day and struggled to wear a coat even though I was cold. I got tested for early menopause and all sorts but it stopped soon after I stopped the meds.

You need a bit of an mot really, I think they would need to rule out things like your blood pressure and hormonal/thyroid changes before treating it symptomatically.

Botox can be really effective for excessive sweating.

pinkgin85 · 26/11/2021 13:12

I actually have low blood pressure, and nope no medications at all. Thyroid was tested last year and was fine too...
No obvious reason apart from hormones. I've been recently diagnosed with fibroids, but I don't think that should be a contributing factor.
I don't think it's hyperhydrosis either because I only sweat underarms and groin.

Sad

I don’t think hyperhidrosis is limited to specific areas and all of them being affected.

Ask for a referral to a dermatologist or investigate if it’s something you could afford to pursue privately, there’re are treatments available.

There’re are! Blush
