Prolapse. Can anyone help?

I was diagnosed yesterday with a bladder prolapse. I’m 52 with no previous issues or any other medical conditions.
Dr offered 3 options; surgery, pessary or physiotherapist. I asked to explore all 3.
Im really uncomfortable all the time & have sporadic pain. Struggling to sit for any period without constantly fidgeting.
Dr has said I have to wait for a consultant with surgeon before I can be given a pessary and it’s only at the hospital at that appointment that one will be fitted. Im struggling to understand that I might have to wait months for any relief. My mother has a prolapse and has it done at local GP by a nurse (different surgery but same health trust)

Does anyone know what wait times are? Or if I do indeed have to wait for appointment with surgeon before I get any treatment?
Hoping someone will be able to give me some hope that I just don’t have to put up with this

@MissMarianHalcombe How are you getting on now?

@Oftenithinkaboutit how was the recovery I regards to paain? We’re all the stitches internal??

@Tra06 Funnily enough I’m currently sitting in physio dept of hospital waiting for my gynae appointment.
I have a pessary-actually getting it changed next week as it been 6 months
it been very slow progress but I’m not in as much discomfort as before so small wins.
GP has been hopeless however
thanks for asking

Did you find the pessary gave instant relief? I’m feeling so low. 3 months pp and have grade 2 cystocele that sometimes feels like it’s falling out of me. Baby is so heavy and struggling with the load. Only 29 and just feel worthless.

what type of pessary do you use? Would you reccomend one?

@Tra06 For me, the pessary wasn’t instant but within a couple of days I felt much better. It’s a ring pessary. Mine was due to combination of giving birth naturally (many years ago) and the menopause.
have you spoken to your GP? I had to fight for everything-constant calls, chasing but it’s paid off. Although still a long way to go I’m not now feeling anywhere near as bad.
Ask about a gynae physio. She’s been brilliant

@MissMarianHalcombe ive actually got a Gynae appointment in 2 weeks due to my third degree tear I sustained at birth, but hoping I can discuss a solution for me at that appointment. Feeling so low. Can’t carry my 3 month old baby and he only sleeps being rocked. I really feel so lost and hopeless every day feeling the bulge out my vagina.

@Tra06 Im sorry you feel so miserable when it should be such a joyful time. Definitely ask for all you can. Hopefully they’ll be able to help you, at least with some relief for what you are experiencing now.
I know it doesn’t feel like it but it can improve

@Oftenithinkaboutit can I ask what surgery? Did you go private or nhs? How long was the wait? What stage were you and did it take a lot to get referred?
