Period pants for teens

Terfasaurus · 19/11/2021 07:38

DD 12 started periods yesterday. Eldest is 17. Someone suggested period pants are better for teens than traditional pads/tampons.

Don’t know why I didn’t think of this before. Before I splash out, any parents of teens have any experience or recommendations for brands?

Hi! I'm wearing my new Primark period pants for the first time today and so far so good! Have had them on since this morning and no problems and feeling very comfortable. Bought them for my DD13 as well!

I got a few modibodi and a few M&S for 13yo DD. She likes both, but modibodi are the most comfy.
Modibodi are pricey. M&S are cheaper but always out of stock.

I don't understand how they work though - my daughter has a fairly heavy flow so would she just be changing them several times a day? That makes it very expensive.
She wears pads and those leak proof pants as a back up.

Modibodi have some very heavy flow options. My DD has heavy flow and if she wears pads she has to change frequently to avoid leaks. With the highest absorbency Modibodi pants she can go all day without changing or leaking. Just be aware though, we looked at the primark version as they are far cheaper but they are no-where near as absorbent.

Modibody here too.
On heavier days you can wear more absorbent ones, or wear a pad inside the pants and discard part of the way through the day. DD finds period pants much easier at school to deal with.

DD is averse to trying period pants, but was excited to get a (free) moon cup to try out. May be an option?

I use the Primark ones, typically as a "back up" because I have a very heavy flow little access to toilets. However, first and last day just the pants. They're amazing. And super comfy.

Hello, I'm not a teen but I use these! The brand I have is Modibodi (I think) and I really like them. Not sure how heavy my flow is compared to others but since getting my IUD it's definitely gotten heavier, on my heaviest days I have to change halfway through the day (I use the most absorbent version). They're really comfortable and basically impossible to leak in, the only downsides are: pretty expensive, annoying to wash, and you have to make sure you dry them as soon as they're done washing otherwise they can get a little bit iffy. I'd recommend them though.

My DD is a Floweret user and loves them. The absorbant bit goes right up at the back which makes her feel more secure. She's very heavy (on the pill and transenamic acid from age 13, but still bad) and just changes 3 times a day at the worst time - morning, after school (5pm) and bedtime.

There's some Black Friday deals on right now. DD wears hers all the time as so unpredictable so she has 16 pairs Grin
