Is this serious or have I just googled too much?

I've been having pains in my stomach and I'm waiting for scans at the hospital to see if they can find out why.
Obviously google has convinced me I'm dying and I still have over a month before my scans.
I have stomach pains in the lower right side, I'm gassy most of the time and bloated. I feel like I need to pee a lot.
I have no appetite at all. For the last few days I've only eaten to be social, I really don't feel hungry. And after a small amount of food I feel full. When I do eat anything I get heartburn.
The pain started last month and was only occasional. Now my stomach hurts all the time and my back aches at night.
I went to my GP after about a week of pain. They did urine tests and found no signs of infection or kidney stones etc. I've been referred for scans but they were vague on what they'll be looking for.
It sounds like ovarian cancer from everything I see online. Could it be something else?
Does anyone know if there's anything less serious that could present this way please? Do non cancerous cysts ever cause pain this way? Or something else?
I'm so worried and I know I won't have any proper answers here and not until I get my results but maybe someone has had something similar?

how old are you?

veryouting2021 · 14/11/2021 22:22

What you're describing is a lot like when my friend had a stomach ulcer.

Bren77 · 14/11/2021 22:22

I'm 45

A colleague is signed off at the moment due to a benign cyst on her ovary, her pain came on suddenly and was so severe the doctor thought it was appendicitis.

Babyiskickingmyribs · 14/11/2021 22:46

Chronic constipation ?

Weewilliewinkie123 · 14/11/2021 22:54

In all honesty it could be IBS. I have been to the Dr quite a lot for right sided pain, bloating and wind and that’s what it always comes down to. I also lose my appetite regularly during it and I’ve had bouts of it lasting for weeks.

I think if they are vague on what they are looking for then that’s probably a good thing. If they were specifically looking for something then they would say, this sounds more of a “let’s see if we can see something” rather more than a “we are looking for xyz”

There are a multitude of things that can cause these symptoms. I have had cancer (breast) and I can assure you that Google is terrible for picking up what you are looking at. I have googled cancer a lot, to the point that there is now no pain I can type in that doesn’t link to cancer in some way according to Google, so you will now find that all your symptoms lead to the same.

Maybe ring the Dr and ask specifically if there is anything they are looking for? They have to be honest with you x

Debsdonein · 14/11/2021 23:06

If doctors thought for one minute it was serious your scan would be sooner than a month away.

IBS sounds likely. Still painful and not nice.

justasking111 · 14/11/2021 23:14

GP needed again I'm afraid contact them tomorrow

rjacksmiss · 14/11/2021 23:26

I get that with my jacked up ovaries. Have loads of wee cysts however I'm not polycystic?! That's my only symptoms. Also have ibs. Try some peppermint tea, helps to gently disperse the wind! 🤣

Bren77 · 14/11/2021 23:43

I do have IBS but it has never presented like this before. It's a different pain, hard to describe. Maybe it has "changed" somehow?
Interesting to hear of other possibilities. Thank you for the thoughts everyone.

Personally I would contact your GP again and tell them your concern is it may be ovarian cancer and explain why. They might be able to bring your scan forward if they think it's a possibility or explain why it's more likely tobe x,y or z.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 14/11/2021 23:56

If you do contact your GP to ask about tests for ovarian cancer, then ask them if you should be having a CA125 (blood test looking for associated markers)

Did you tell your GP all the symptoms you list in the opening post when you consulted them before?

Winceybincey · 14/11/2021 23:57

Did your GP do a blood test? It’s usually the standard before scans are requested and i’d be surprised if they didn’t request a CA125 as that test gives an indication of most ovarian cancers and other cancers in the vicinity. It would be done as ‘ruling it out’ rather than suspected.

I’ve had trouble in that area in the past and it usually disappears eventually, never know what it is so I just put it down to trapped gas!

Also, if you’re anxious, the symptoms will get worse!

KrakowDawn · 15/11/2021 00:06

Is it possibly gallstones? How high/low in your stomach are they?
Also, you said you feel you need to pee a lot... but are you going frequently, or just feel like you need to?
Sorry you're in pain Thanks
My dd has IBS so I know how painful it can be.

SeaToSki · 15/11/2021 00:30

Sounds like gall bladder issues to me. Try cutting right back on eating/drinking anything that contains fat and see if it helps at all

Nikki360 · 20/11/2021 13:08

Definitely call and request a CA15 blood test purely to put your mind at rest x

Nikki360 · 20/11/2021 13:08

CA125 sorry meant to say

JinglingHellsBells · 20/11/2021 20:10

@Nikki360

CA125 sorry meant to say
C125 test is very unreliable. It can show high levels for all other kinds of gynae issues.

It's not even 100% accurate in women who have advanced OC.

The way forward is a scan.

OP I think you need to chase an earlier scan and explain to the Dr that you are worried about OC.

It's rare in women before menopause, but not unheard of.

You can download a chart from the charity OVACOME to track your symptoms, daily. They can also give advice.

Push your GP to move the scan forwards.

honeyfox · 20/11/2021 20:13

I have similar symptoms at the moment and getting a fibroid removed in three weeks time, it can be easily diagnosed by a scan if you think it's worth looking into.

unluckyinlife · 20/11/2021 20:23

I had these symptoms nearly exactly.

111 sent me to A and E thinking although I had a coil and negative test it was ectopic pregnancy.

While there they thought it was either my gallbladder or appendicitis.

A scan for appendicitis revealed a large ovarian cyst that had ruptured. It resolved itself in around 4 weeks but I have NEVER felt so unwell. xx

Nikki360 · 20/11/2021 20:33

Jinglinghellsbells I didn't know that Thankyou

SweatyYetti · 20/11/2021 20:38

IBS.

Have you had blood tests?

soundsgreektome · 20/11/2021 20:45

Similar situation for me. I have endometriomas on both ovaries, and severe
endometriosis, which is also in my bowel. I’m bloated, get pain occasionally, but now on mini pill and symptoms have eased. Don’t think the worst until someone diagnoses you officially .

Wipingsides · 20/11/2021 21:07

I have similar symptoms & just been diagnosed adenomyosis. Worth looking into that as v similar symptoms to ovarian cancer that you're worried about. I also have hiatus hernia - this may be causing your bloating/ heartburn.. I'm not convinced it's adenomyosis causing my pain so high up & needing to wait for next apt to ask the questions but scans clear.. I think at this age we have all kinds of weird & wonderful symptoms. Try not to worry if you're not getting rapidly worse/ losing weight.. but also push docs - you know your body best. Good luck x
