Pelvic floor

I had a baby 3 years ago and I'm currently 12 week pregnant again. I'm suffering massively with HG, I have been hospitalised twice due to dehydration and tried 4 different sickness meds and they work for a bit then seem to stop.

My problem is every time I'm sick I wee myself, I'm not talking just a little bit but as in I need to change the whole of my bottom half every time I'm sick. I've tried maternity pads but they don't make a different to me needing to change.

Also happens every time I cough although not as bad but still embarrassing. I'm only 26!

Is there anything that can be done about my apparently non existent pelvic floor whilst I'm pregnant or do I have to wait until this baby just falls out one day?

Have you tried doing pelvic floor exercises? The NHS has an app called Squeezy which is free to download.

Also great for the post-menopausal...

Good luck - it's bloody annoying when you leak and can be embarrassing too.

@Grumpyosaurus I downloaded the app while pregnant with my DS and did the exercises daily then I thought once I'd had him I didn't need to bother. Now I'm pregnant again it's awful and honestly think I'm beyond a few exercises (although I do still do them)

Maybe try the knickers I see advertised. I’m not sure that there’s a lot you can do while pregnant.
Hopefully, as you womb grows out of your pelvis, it might improve.

In that case have a word with your midwife - IME midwives are more experienced with anything to do with maternity and pelvic floors than GPs.

Your pregnancy hormones will have relaxed your connective tissues which won't be helping you at all.

Pelvic floor physio? I went to see one after having my baby for incontinence and it was a great help. I don't know what they will recommend but worth a shot. Where I live in the UK you can self refer and its very straightforward.

You should do them daily every day, pregnant or not.

I see a lot of old ladies with continence issues. Menopause can weaken your pelvic floor muscles leading to problems, that’s enough of a motivation for me to do my daily squeezes. The squeezy app is fab, I’d rather not have to rely on tena lady in my older years!

I hope HG ends soon for you op, sounds miserable Flowers
