Help me figure out what’s up with my fanjo!

Sorry this thread will be full of TMI

Swollen labia, burning like pain around the area, feels like there is a heartbeat ‘down there’. No thrush like discharge but I’m treating for it just in case. So fed up of the feeling of swelling when I’m walking around.
The only thing that’s happened recently was wearing a body form pantyliner. Could I be allergic?

Any words of wisdom to rescue me from the firey depths? 😂

Depends on your flow of course, but you can mix and match with period pants and some reusable fabric pads. On a medium flow day, in the morning I pop on a pair of the period pants AND a pad, then at lunchtime take the pad out (put in waterproof pouch to take home) and then just use the pants til I get home. On a heavier day take a 2nd pad for the middle of the day. But the reusable ones hold more than the disposable ones so you can often get away with fewer changes.

Dellit · 26/10/2021 10:45

I'm in Australia so the terminology might be different! Reusable fabric towels maybe?

Helpfanjofire · 26/10/2021 10:46

@Dellit oh that’s a really good idea!! Hadn’t thought of that thanks!
Any recommendations? The only thing that’s putting me off is they’re quite expensive and I’d need quite a few for a normal month!

Oops I see you say pads too. Sorry. It's been a while since i left the UK.As you were! Smile

I use Modibodi pants and Juju pads. It is definitely an expensive outlay to start with unfortunately. Totally worth it though if you can stretch to it as they pay for themselves over time, not to mention the lack of irritation! But you could start with just a few, and alternate with unscented disposables, and buy a few more pairs of pants/pad over time. I think it's not a bad idea to try a few different brands to figure out which ones you prefer and what suits your flow etc better

Helpfanjofire · 26/10/2021 11:18

@Dellit thanks for your help! I’ll have a look at them brands and go from there. Like you say it might be a trial and error until I find the one I like 😊

😊 I hope you find some that suit you and also that you feel much better soon Flowers

If you end up needing single-use pads rather than reusable, have a look at Natracare. I scented, organic cotton cover, no plastic and also a female-owned business. I don't work for them, just used them for a long time, I'm sure there are others similar out there. You could also help the cause generally by emailing bodyform and telling them the fuckery their stupid nasty pads have caused you!

Get yourself in a bath of yogurt, you know it makes sense

Reusable pads are expensive but they pay for themselves in a few months.

I love period pants. I don't have a particularly heavy flow so all I need to do when I have my period is put on a different pair of pants than usual and then a new pair before bed. I often forget I have my period now as its just so easy. They wash really well as well. I started off with 4 pairs but have slowly got more so I can put then all in the wash together. I use modibodi.

Tidypidy · 26/10/2021 16:11

Dd and I like the cheeky wipes pants. They often have bundle offers so are well worth a look.

Helpfanjofire · 26/10/2021 16:26

@GertrudeKerfuffle so I’ve just spent the afternoon looking at period pants and I’m too much of a commitaphobe (and skint) so I’ve just purchased those naturacare ones!!!
Praying they are the holy grail I’m hoping for...
