How long do your periods take to finish completely?

Since have my second child 4 months ago, I've had 3 periods. I've noticed they take a while to tail off. 4-5 of main bleed then another 4-5 days of little tiny bits. I seem to feel quite hormonal during this tailing off time too. Had similar after my son. It's almost like my body takes longer to clear out from a period now. Anyone else?
Doctors don't seem concerned and had gynae tests for something unrelated which were OK.
Does having babies change your periods? I'm 34, nearly 35.

2 days

Only benefit of being menopausal.

Yeah mines have gone to 4 days from 5. The flow in the first few days is quite heavy too. I thought it was maybe because of my COVID vaccinations.

groundcontroltomajormum · 22/10/2021 23:22

Around 5 days, maybe 6. No more. The first period after ds was heavier than usual but that's fairly normal.
I had my covid jab last month and my period started two days later. It was completely normal. I was expecting it to be long and heavy ( lots of stories about this online) it was fine thankfully.

I have 6 days of period and then 3 days of thinking it’s over but being wrong.

@mag2305 mine are exactly the same since baby no.2! I panicked initially (suffer from bad health anxiety) but had everything checked out and all ok. I’ve kind of accepted it now. Just wanted to say you’re not the only one this has happened too 😊.

A week. It sucks.

Yes, after my third child I had 4 very heavy, longer periods. After the 2nd one I went to the GP as they were so heavy I couldn't leave the house. Pad changes (double pads and tampon) within an hour as I was flooding.
I went for a scan which was NAD. And then just like that, normal periods resumed. Been fine since, the odd heavier one, but nothing like those post birth ones. The only other time I've had periods that bad were with the copper coil.

mag2305 · 25/10/2021 23:58

@MissMini thank you. I have really bad health anxiety too. I know that I get a bit too obsessional about periods. Never really happened before my two children but I had a massive pph having my first and ever since I've worried about periods. I'm sure there's a psychological link betwee the two.
Like you said, it's about accepting it which is what I need to learn to do. My body is never going to be the same as it was after two babies. Xx

No DC but mine are 6-8 days. Usually a day where I think it's finished and then it starts again 🙄

MissMini · 26/10/2021 08:32

@mag2305 big hugs - it’s rotten feeling that way. It definitely has an effect on you. Fingers crossed you feel a bit better about it all soon.

GoodnightGrandma · 26/10/2021 08:36

7 days.
At some point my body changed to about 4 days, then about 12 hours off, for it to start again for 2 days 😡
